Tim -

Do you think you can reiterate what exactly we are doing? Are we just deciding among the two of us what the pick ems are?

No...

You can consult your teammate on how each of you will select your picks to "Cover Your Bases." Then each of you will submit separate picks.

After the race has been run, I will add your total score for your picks to your teammate's total and the highest team combined score will win the contest.

The season-long competitors decided that they wanted to do "Team Picks" for this race since it is a non-points event for the Series.

Join us next year for the Pick 'Em contest. It really makes you consider pit strategy and other factors as part of the overall event, as opposed to just picking a top five or whatever.

I sent a PM to all of the competitors to remind them of the contest.

You may want to contact drdisque by e-mail as well, provided his account allows him to accept e-mails...

I suggested to others via the PM to e-mail their teammates about the picks to get them in.

I hope they do it, since everyone seemed interested in this in the Chicagoland thread.

I just found out from tracksideonline.com that I will be able to extend our deadline for the contest by 8 hours.

IndyCars don't take to the track until 8 a.m. on Friday.

If we don't get the full contingent of team members, we'll score it just like the other contests as individuals.

Since the deadline has passed and not everyone got in, we have two options:

1. Play it straight up as singles or

2. Create 3 teams as follows:

Peno (1st)
ProRacer (8th)

ThePenguin (2nd)
Drewdawg (7th)

NAC (4th)
OpenWheel (6th)

Personally, I think that the three teams are pretty even...

Your Thoughts?

I drew up a matrix of all of your quals picks as "teams" based on the new breakdown and side-by-side, they are very interesting, to say the least....

Depending on the results of qualifying, this could be a lot of fun for me to score.

I think that all three teams will do well, just from what I have seen and compared to the first two practice sessions.

Good Luck to:

Team Peno-Pro
Team Penguin-'dawg
Team NAC-OW

The matrix revealed one immediate thought to me yesterday:

If Power wins the pole, Team Peno-Pro is going to get a HUGE lead...It happened.

Both Peno and Pro Racer picked Power for the pole for two pts each. Try saying that sentence fast five times after drinking a couple of beers!

Both also picked Power for the fast lap and Peno was closest to the Firestone Fast 6 and Fast lap of any session speeds as well....With bonus points for picking all of those correct, he alone had 12 points from those first four picks and Pro Racer contributed his 4 pts with the selections of Power.

In the "Top Six," Penguin had 7 pts with 2 correct, OpenWheel had 6 pts with 1 correct, and all others had 5 pts each.

No one had Townsend Bell for "Slowest"

ThePenguin was closest to the speed: Actual-84.607 Penguin-98.873

Drewdawg got 1 pt. for picking Briscoe as the "Just Miss" when he made the top six...No one had Tagliani for that selection

Individual Scores:

1. Peno - 17 pts.
2. ThePenguin - 9 pts.
(tie) ProRacer - 9 pts.
4. OpenWheel - 8 pts.
5. drewdawg - 6 pts.
6. NAC - 5 pts.

Team Scores after Quals:

1. Team Peno-Pro: 26 pts.
2. Team Penguin-'dawg: 15 pts.
3. Team NAC-OW: 13 pts.

Nice picks Peno & Pro racer....a huge team effort.

Good Luck to all in the race later on...

Here are your race results

No one picked Briscoe for the win

In the Top Five, NAC had 3 pts. and all others had 2 pts.

NAC had Dario for the fast lap

ProRacer was closest to the fast lap speed: Actual-105.743 ProRacer-105.821

drewdawg had Dixon leading at lap 20 for the only points in the Milestones

OpenWheel picked Moraes as the first out for 2 pts,

OpenWheel also had Buddy Rice as the "Mover" (22nd to 10th)

No one had Power as the "Fall" guy (1st to 22nd)

ProRacer was closest to the Avg. Speed: Actual-95.068 ProRacer-92.974

Individual Results:

1. Peno - 19 pts.
2. ProRacer - 15 pts.
3. OpenWheel - 14 pts.
4. ThePenguin - 11 pts.
5. NAC - 10 pts.
(tie) drewdawg - 10 pts.

Team Results:

1. Team Peno-Pro - 34 pts.
2. Team NAC-OW - 24 pts.
3. Team Penguin-'dawg - 21 pts.

That was pretty fun for me to score...You all had a tough race, but I enjoyed the entire season.

Great picks, and I'll do the contest again next spring.

Thanks for playing...I appreciate it.

Wow just goes to show you that with a great qualifying you can still win the race only picking up 2 points. Awesome qualifying Peno, you're race sucked though.

Nice times to Pro Racer

Thanks again Tim for running the show, I'll email you that spread sheet I've been playing with.
