SFonseca should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Cheever to Le Mans and Daytona?

Cheever is planning to race in the Indianapolis 500, the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Daytona 24 Hours next year, despite taking a step back from driving full-time in the IRL. What is thinking about? a Corvette C5-R??

Nissan 350Z, I'd expect, given his ties with Infinity-Nissan.

The article has said, Daytona 500, not Daytona 24.

http://www.speedtv.com/auto/?lvl=3a&cat=19&id=4365

"So much for that retirement rumor.

Eddie Cheever Jr. settled the speculation today by announcing several new ventures, including plans to compete in the Daytona 500 and 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003.

The Daytona/Le Mans idea was, as of Wednesday, just an idea. But his connections to Europe and General Motors could lead to rides for both events.

Does he want to do the Monaco GP too, just to complete the set?

Good for Eddie, getting some classics in at the end of his career. Shows how much he loves motor racing (well his two seasons at Alfa showed that, but....)

Eddie is a racer, racer because of driving F1, Cart and IRL. I hope he can have much more success in the 24 hrs of Daytona and LeMans because of its prestige and endurance of man and machine.

It's been a long time since he's turned, right! Hope it's like riding a bike.

I wish him well, and welcome back to real racing!

He has plenty of endurance racing experience going back to the '70s - as a driver for BMW (with the Gp.5 320i; he was a Junior long before he was "Jr." ), Lancia Corse/Martini Racing (the Beta Montecarlo years), and Jaguar.

Ah, well, shows how closely I follow crapwagons...

Oh well, I'm always glad to see open-wheel drivers climb out of their ivory towers.

I remember how Sullivan, the Unsers and the Andrettis always used to show up for the Daytona 24... Now that was a time...
