Tagliani
I really don't care who wins CART this year just as long as the series most flamboyant, exciting, and unluckiest driver (if you hadn't guessed, i'm a fan) Mr Alex Tagliani finally wins a race.
Since he broke into CART in 2000 I've followed his progress intently. The highs - his amazing debut at Homestead, his second place in Toronto last year, and... The lows - the pit lane penalty that robbed him of a debut win, spinning out of the lead in Brazil a month later, heartbreak as his engine blew at Road America in 2000 when he led by over 20 seconds, losing a similar advantage to a gearbox failure in Vancouver last year, his accident with Zanardi in Germany which cost the Italian (and also Tag's idol) his legs, and finally the air jack mishap in Mexico. Alex will win this year. If the man upstairs knows justice, he'll be 2002 champion as well. |

Tags deserves to have a won a race by now, but either due to a silly error (in his first season anyway) or just plain bad luck (which has dogged him since then), that breakthrough hasn't come.
But it should break this year. It has to!! |

He's definately one of the more talented drivers in the series, and should have won races long ago.
He seems to have a problem keeping it together under the pressure though... A number of times he has been in a position to challenge for or take a win, and has made a silly error to surrender it. Most memorable being Brazil, but also last year in Toronto where he was catching Michael Andretti until a mistake in the 1st corner cost him too much time. |

Tags is fast. Real fast. But that "Andretti luck" followed Carpentier for the longest time until Michigan last year. The Players' team has always had the talent, from the drivers to the engineers to the guy who sweeps the floor, but for one reason or another couldn't post the numbers to prove it. At least since Villeneuve and Green left. But I think that will all change this year, and look forward to one of them, or both, finishing in the top-5 for the championship.

I hope he does well this year. When he first started in CART I thought he was a bit of a loose cannon but he seems to have settled down since then and is definately capable of good results.
