About 2 hrs behind on Ch7 and about 8 hrs on Foxtel. But I heard it was live at the track.

I was listening to radio 2GB in Sydney today and a caller to the Alan Jones show was complaining how the coverage of the Melbourne Cup meeting wasn't live! by the sound of her voiceshe was an older lady who probably (I know I'm presuming something here) wasn't a motor racing type and would be completely oblivious to the discussions on here about the B1000 coverage. Congratulations to Ch7 for equal opportunity screwing up and clearly not just thinking motor racing fans don't matter.

Yesterday was live from the restart after Tanders crash at Sandown.
Today it was probably about a 10 lap delay after the red flag and fence rebuild today. |

One of the things Channel 7 need to do is stop advertising their coverage as live. On my digital tv guide, it always says " * Live " at the end of the program name.

Sitting Trackside it was interesting to listen to the commentary regarding the restart. They stated that there was adequate time to restart the race and complete all 65 laps within the cut-off time of 17:20. But for some reason the race was shortened by 5 laps. Obvioulsy with C7 being so far behind in their delay that would have screwed them... but why have a 17:20 time limit if: 1. it's not live and 2. they have a delay anyway?? |

I was dishing out the 130 odd radios required for all the marshals over the weekend so spent most of my time in and around pit lane |

Bathurst fully live (not time shifted) in 2011 under new govmint regs on FTA sporting events:

I'd much rather watch a replay of something straight out of an ad break than end up over half an hour behind by the end of the day.

while i agree with PVDA on his point, would rather see a replay after the add break
i leave this comment for all the people who complain about the coverage Just toughen up and go, start planning now and stop making excuses, then you get to see it live and get to see all the cool parts of the race that you miss on tv |

I hate the time delay - if something happens through the ad break, replay it when you get back. By playing it live, really live, the internet can enhance the viewer experience, not ruining it like it did in 2010.

I will admit it is much better if you can use the live timing while viewing as you can pick up a lot of what is happening down the field that the talking heads don't cover.

I am glad that it is returning to "true live", but perhaps I am in the minority by wishing that it was simulcast on foxtel - so we could avoid the bloody ads.
You would still have a legal requirement to show on FTA, but just give us the choice of that or a channel like Speed. Still, at least true live will be better. |
