I don't see how them performing for a few mins before a race is such a big deal. XXXX pay V8s the money, so they get to put on whatever they want. Took up less time than the Bikes will all weekend won't they? Personally, I don't go to a V8 meet to watch motorcyle racing....

They do make a bunch of 5 year olds seem talented...I have never been able to watch more than 30 seconds without bursting out laughing...but I guess some people do enjoy them.

At around AUS$80k each for a 12-month contract, you'd appreciate that Lion value them to show a return to the average fans at V8 rounds, and they obviously do as next year is Year 4 for the XXXX Angels.

It's fine to have them at the track, and they can dance for their life at the XXXX retreat, but why we have to put up with it on TV when we could have Mark Skaife, Neil Crompton and Mark Larkham making bad jokes about each other for an extra few minutes is beyond me.
Mind you, when the arrived on Pit Straight at Bathurst on Sunday morning, my call of "And now, to demonstrate the dangers of drinking and dancing, the XXXX Angels" got more than a few laughs

As much as I like grid girls and T & A, for me it just seems a bit cheesy with all the hair swirling and prancing. It's all harmless and I'm sure the gals put a lot of effort in and they all seem like attractive gals, but dunno the execution of it doesn't seem to come off well. Probably because it just seems to be like a strippers lap dance, you're almost like where do I slip the $20. So it's not really the thing you want to see paraded around before a race.
I'd say the gals need to train with some NFL Cheerleaders from the USA, some of whom have the whole dance thing down in a way that's it's hot, without being sleazy. |
