Apparently. A Vauxhall badged Monaro MAY compete in a LMES race or two.

JAG, Waco Racer told me that the LS6 GM engine is the power plant in the Holden, just as it is in the GTO. Is that true?

I've not seen the GTO, but from what I understand the Holden, Vauxhall and Pontiac are exactly the same car.
Should cut down on devlopment costs. The Monaro has already got two Bathurst 24 Hours wins behind it! |

That was fast! Ummm...your post, and the car.
This is great info to me, as it yet another endurance race win for GM. Thanks, JAG! Aren't they also handing Ford's ass to them in V8 Supercars? Last edited by Chevyguy; 7 Feb 2004 at 22:55. |

Talking about Bathurst, I noticed on the Australian forums that there are still strong rumours of a Ford GT (new GT40) at Bathurst, maybe with backdoor Ford support!

The question is, if it ran in ALMS or LMES or FIAGT, what class would it run in?
The Monaro's that ran at Bathurst 24hrs were miles away from the road car specification or anything that would be allowed in FIA N-GT or ACO GT... totaly different rear suspension, 7.0L V8 instead of road car 5.7L engine, etc, etc. Which might be acceptable under FIAGT or ACO GTS.... but in that case, why would any GM team run a Monaro instead of a Corvette C5R? Can anyone tell me the production run required to run in ACO GT.... it's 75 for N-GT isn't it? Last edited by alfasud; 8 Feb 2004 at 01:02. |

The Monaro could race in ACO GT even with a 7l engine. It would need road car based suspension etc, however.

That wouldnt be a problem, most of the Commodore Supercar strut suspension & watts linkage could be adapted to the Monaro without much trouble

I thought it was the Monaro rear suspension that was the issue? Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I didn't think the Commodore V8 supercar rear suspension was much like the Monaro or Commodore (road car) rear at all? So how does the V8 supercar suspension bits help?

The Commodore Supercar is homologated under FIA rules, admittedly not for this class
Interestingly the Garry Rogers Motorsport site does not specifically detail the specification of the Monaro either... and PROCAR site is similarly devoid of information. |

If the rumoured Ross Palmer Monaro's end up happening, then presumebly all of the arguing about the Monaro's eligibility will be finished.........then all that needs to be done is to be homologation....

The point that most fans of the new Monaro dodge is that it was actually a prototype with no link at all to any road car but its name.
All parts are sourced from around the world or made in house as one off parts so it can be competitive. It is less a road car than the Saleen or Mosler which are actual cars. The engine is the C5-R motor which benefits from the Callaway and Pratt&Miller technologies. |

And where on earth does the second person sit? |

It could be a new "Le Monstre" for LeMans!
The front looks sorta like the Bugatti 'tank.' I like it! |
