I've just managed to get back onto the forum, I was wiped off, I don't remember being a bad boy but anything is possible. Life has returned to normal, the weather forecast is good for next Tuesday, I see registrations are at 32 with a further 3 to be confirmed, 13 of those are club class. All we need to do is find another two cars for the two guys on here looking for them.
Don't be blinded by having to buy a 98 or 99, the 97 is about as quick, and in my view nicer to drive.

Where did Martin's RC97 and Dasc's RC98 end up? Just wondering if they are lingering in garages somewhere and open to offers or being actively used?

martin rc97 has disapeared off the radar

Scotts RC98 is with reon motorsport.

Apparently there is a 98 at a college somewhere

Thank you for the discussion on the where abouts of cars guys, really would be good if I could find 1. I'd be open to the idea of an RC97 or even a Mygale, if only I could find 1!!!

Are Reon Motorsport running the car for someone?

Is it? We sold to a young man called Brown. Has he moved it on?

Formula Renault Workshop Manual Needed

Hi all,

Does anyone have a Formula Renault Workshop Manual that I could have a copy of??? When I registered for the BARC Championship this year, I ticked the box asking for one but I think they are having trouble finding one. I understand from Allan COLLEN that there may be an 'electronic' one in existance. Failing that a photocopied one would be great.

It is the manual which covers the '97 F3R engine and not the Tatuus 'chassis' one.

Thanks

Richard

As I understand it the BARC are obliged to provide one. Although there are spare copies around, I would ring up Dale Wells and pester him until he solves the problem and sends you one. Another driver at Brands yesterday has the same problem and I gave him the same advice. The more of you who pester him the more likely he is to sort it out. I see you have entered Donnington, see you there.

A lot of new guys in both classes. Of the old regulars, there was Pierre and Denis, Hamilton Smith, Dean Stoneman, James Heff your old runner Iain Morton, Roberto Tyrone, Dave Scott and us 2, about 20 in all.
A lot of "offs", a fair bit of damage considering it was only a test day. If it was typical of the year to come there will be a lot of red flags. Hopefully everyone will settle down a bit.
Ian's car broke a cam belt idler and put the valves in the pistons, otherwise we had a good day.

Good to see a few out - looks like there were plenty 'teething' problems for most people. I'd be interested to know what people thought of the track times... did anyone think the track got slower in the session after lunch?

Workshop manuals for the club class cars will be available at Donnington for those needing one.
James, we don't have anything to offer on the subject of track conditions at Brands. Ian was trying the new car and so steadily speeding up, my lap timer had a flat battery.
As ever, the super slick efficient racing team !!!

Just our of interest, what sort of lap times would a 97/98 Tatus do around brands, donington etc? say compared to a formula ford etc...or even the fr2000?

98 tatuus mid to high 46 sec, 97 tatuus low 47sec around brands, 97 tatuus donington mid 1.11 on national circuit. The FR2000's in BARC spec are typically 0.5 - 2 seconds per lap quicker depending on the circuit, in the case of brands & donigton about 1-1.5 seconds quicker. Formula ford around brands after looking at MST anywhere between 2 secs (duratec) & 5 secs (kent) per lap slower than a tatuss rc98 in BARC spec

Well, it is quiet on here, we've had one round, judging by the silence you'd think we had all buried the things in the barriers.
What about you ADEE, you blew me away and got on the podium, DSM, you had a good run too I thought.
All in all, I thought it was a good start to the year with a capacity grid and only one non-finisher, shame about James's g/box in qualifying, but I.m sure he will bounce back for Croft.
What about you Mr Horsepower, you must feel a bit trampled on, but there is only one way and that is up!!
Me, I'm looking forward to getting soaked again for a weekend at Croft.

Bob I'm here - just busy getting my entries in!!
Agree that it was a great start to the year (except poor JH & his toothless 5th gear). Thought it was about time to have some new faces on the club class podium (except of course the #1 spot) - the regular father / son routine will have to wait for a while!! At least I made sure there was some representation for the over 40 brigade.
Looking forward to a good turn out at Croft. Back to those entries then.

Mmmmm, could have been better for us. Tough race though. Louis (Or louise as the timesheet said!!) kept us honest and we had a very tough time all race long, especially when Mr Pentus joined in. Enjoyable from that point of view but being in such a close battle slowed us all down considerably, I think.

Overall, a good start and it looks like being a competitive season, even if the wins will go to the teams and team supported drivers, who are already using (sometimes more than 1) sets of new tyres for test days!

What happened to Club racing?

Bob,

I didn't feel trampled on at all It was my first race and I was happy to:

a) Finish &
b) Not damage the car (or anyone elses)

It was all a big learning curve but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'll just have to see if I can improve and come a 'closer' last at Croft!

Thanks to everyone who helped me at Donington - it was a real "club" feel.

Richard

Full grid again for Croft, with 4 reserves
Weather forecast now claims that Friday should be OK, Saturday, some outbreaks of rain and Sunday a bit less rain than Saturday.
If its any better than last year it will be a plus, but at least we are comfortably in the garages. Do they have 36 garages there? I don't think they do, so a bit of doubling up may be needed.
A bit of a pain being next to last race on Sunday, but I suppose we will get home eventually.
