The Moto GP Winter Testing Thread

Yep, let's have at it, so we have something to talk about. Day 1 at Valencia took place today with a summary as follows:

http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2008/F...+taste+of+2009

Of note, everyone was on Bridgestone tires today, who brought medium and hard compounds.

Stoner, Pedrobot and Rossi were again quickest, and each bettered their quickest race lap time.

Nicky Hayden debuted on the GP8 and GP9, bettering Melandri's quickest race lap, but not his own.

Melandri hopped on the Kawi, and bettered his own race lap, smashed West's race lap, and was almost quicker than Hopkins.

Sete Gibernau made his return today and was quickest non-factory Ducati.

We also had some new faces including Canepa, Kallio and Takahashi.

I came across these Phlip Island times (26-11-08):
1. Loris Capirossi Suzuki 1'31.5
2. Chris Vermeulen Suzuki 1'31.9
3. Olivier Jacque Kawasaki 1'32.4
4. Marco Melandri Kawasaki 1'32.5
5. John Hopkins Kawasaki 1'33.3

WTF. Jacque quickest Kwakker

There's also some testing going on at a cold Jerez. These were the times at 16.00 local time (with laps ridden in brackets, I think):
1. Pedrosa (Repsol-Honda) 1.39.525 (40)
2. Rossi (Fiat-Yamaha) 1.40.135 (39)
3. Lorenzo (Fiat-Yamaha) 1.41.163 (51)
4. Edwards (Tech 3-Yamaha) 1.41.390 (41)
5. De Angelis (San Carlo-Honda) 1.41.468 (53)
6. Toseland (Tech 3-Yamaha) 1.41.539 (49)
7. Elias (San Carlo-Honda) 1.41.679 (65)
8. Dovizioso (Repsol-Honda) 1.41.888 (40)
9. Canepa (Alice-Ducati) 1.412.074 (50)
10. Hayden (Marlboro-Ducati) 1.42.098 (60)
11. Kallio (Alice-Ducati) 1.42.837 (52)
12. Gibernau (Onde2000-Ducati) 1.42.943 (27)
13. Guareschi (Ducati) 1.43.642 (35)
14. Takahashi (Scot-Honda) 1.44.360 (64)

Canepa is quickest Ducati so far...

Apparently Rossi has injured himself (not too seriously) after falling through a glass table in his home. He has reportedly received stitches to his left index finger and the sole of his left foot. With testing due to start on Thursday at Sepang this is not a good way to start the season. Stitches in the sole of the foot must hamper his riding to a certain extent.
