Deemun should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2011 British Formula Ford Off Season

So as we now have a new thread for the Festival I guess that's just about it for 2010. Next milestone after the Festival will be the sampler day at Rockingham on the 18th Nov where may start to get an idea about who we will be seeing on the grid in 2011 & who the stars will be. With Pye, Malvern, Cammish & Hill almost all certain to move on it will be very interesting to see where the contenders emerge from although I guess we won't, as usual, have to look too much further than the French red cars from Rochester.

I don't think he is quite as quick as Pye yet having witnessed him testing at Brands last week. I think Bernstorf will be the main contender for Jamun if he stays for a 2nd season which he is expected to.

I spoke to Scott Malvern in the CDR garage at the WHT last weekend and he was excited about the new Ray GR11 and hopes to be able to test it quite soon.

OZ Rims

Does anyone know if the OZ Rims fitted to Zetecs and Duratecs are alloy or Mag Alloy? Getting some of mine recoated and they want to know. If it makes a difference the older style squared twin spoke rims.

Cheers

Not a fan of Matt James of MN fame but he did well with todays article regarding the future of Formula Ford and the new rules for 2012. Worth a read and I feel all the points he raised should be replied to by the Ford representitives. I doubt this will happen and feel that they will continue to evade the issues allowing the formula to end up with a single chassis supplier which is what a certain manufacturer and British agent are after.

At the festival I was in the Kentagon to hear the Ford representitive try to sell the Formula. All I can say is God help us. The sooner he is moved up the corporate ladder the better. It is obvious he has no idea of what Formula Ford is about and as a result of his poor leadership and lack of decision making will fail to flourish in 2012 and beyond.

I knew Matt along time ago and he's a top bloke. Anything he writes is a blend of good journalism and proper motorsport enthusiam and worth reading and taking on board. Certainly always had his finger on the pulse regarding club racing and the national racing scene.

He's probably a dying breed within the specialist motorsport press i'm afraid.

Let hope Ford see sense and leave FFDuratec as it is especially with Formula Abarth GB starting in 2011

I think you'll find a few drivers have signed but no PR's yet. Lots of testing been going on as well and drivers with sensible budgets still making their minds up about teams. Scott Malvern may consider a 2nd season if he is unable to do a deal to move on.

I doubt another year would do the boy any harm. Better to move on when the finance is in place rather than make the jump early and struggle due to lack of cash. Good luck.

I thought it was about time we woke this thread up after the Festive lull. So what news do we have about driver signings?

I hear Jamun have two drivers signed one of which will be a promising young Australian (Spike - sorry can't remember his real name). Not sure of the ID of driver two but could it be Slaghekke returning for a 2nd year?

Talking of Australians another tested for JTR just before XMAS at Brands & could be a possible signing along with a strong possibility of the return of James Tucker.

Promising young karter Matt Parry looks to be Fluid bound and if they can persuade Festival winner Dennis Linde back for another campaign they could prove a formidable force.

Dan De Zille should be a regular podium visitor when he returns for a third campaign and I wouldn't be surprised to see Jasper Egbert and Philip Layac back as well as perhaps Anti Burri (Enigma) and Jessie Antilla who tested for CDR late last year. I also expect scholarship champion Tristan Mingay to return for a full campaign.

CDR have tested a couple of drivers including FF1600 front runner Matt Parr.

I know that Spectrum are keen to return as are Juno if the right pilots can be found and it would be good to see both of them back.

A bit early to start talking about championship contenders but that said expect the red cars from Rochester to be setting the pace again. Comments anyone?

Yes he is signed to JTR. CDR have a driver signed as well; Young USA driver Neil Alberico.

Good to see the oversesas drivers continuing to come over to British Formula Ford as a good place to develop their careers.
