Those were the days. We used to get 40 cars enter a GP you know. Not like now. The last car qualifies 4 seconds off the pole time and they are a joke!

Martin Donnelly was linked to Lotus to partner Piquet in 1989.
Also Luis Perez-Sala was linked to Onyx for 1990. |

Donnelly was test driver for Lotus in 88-89 so makes sense. Also Lotus switched from Honda to Judd engines for 89, so would have been less reason to keep Nakajima

Pierre-Henri Raphanel was a candidate to partner Arnoux at Ligier for 1989. The seat went to Grouillard and Raphanel went to Coloni.

Also mentioned with Shadow, but was going to be No1 at Tyrell for '74,in those days most drivers were always talking with other teams, but a signed contract meant more back then than it does today.

Prior to the 1975 season, a swap deal between Lotus and shadow was proposed, exchanging Peterson & Pryce.

Just seen a piece of news that Senna had a Williams contract ready to sign for 92, but decided to stay loyal to McLaren and Honda

What surprised me most was no coverage of his involvement with Montoya, other than a brief mention! I am.fairly sure that the top teams were very interedted in him before and after his 2 year CART stint regardless of his Williams deal. |

I have to say I learnt a bit more about Senna, although I agree it was a bit strange that JPM was only given a passing mention

Andrea De Cesaris was linked to drive for Lotus in 1991(maybe he even tested, but I'm not 100% sure)
Also Benetton was interested in taking him for 1987. |

Keke Rosberg, JJ Lehto's manager agreed with Scuderia Italia, that his protégé will race for them in 1989.
However de Cesaris had an argument at Rial and left, so Beppe Lucchini took him instead. |

When Mansell had an illnes(or injury?, i don't know) in 1988 and had to miss races, there were rumours that Williams might take Michele Alboreto(who already signed for 1989) to replace Mansell and his Ferrari seat would be taken by Roberto Moreno.
