Roll bar for track days
Hello all,
I have a Dax Rush with an asymmetrical roll bar (triangular), i am wondering if this will be permitted on track / airfield days as it offers no protection for the passenger and little for the driver (6'6" and my head sticks over it even without a helmet). Anyone got any opinions / had experience??? Cheers Tim. |

There is no requirement to have a roll bar/cage fitted to your car for doing track days (unlike racing). However like all these things it is a sensible option if you intend driving regularly on track so you might consider having a new one fitted that actually protects you. As with all these safety things, you hope they will be the biggest waste of money ever (i.e. you'll never have to use it). Hope this helps. |

hello again,
Just got an e mail back from marcus at easytrack. Apparently taking a passenger wont be allowed if the roll bar doesn't cover them, and it might be a problem with my head above the bar if its above the windscreen too!! How weird is that, the windscreen in a seven type car would give all protection in a roll anyway!! What do you reckon of the idea of temporarily extending the bar using scaffold bar / clips braced to the rear of the chassis Very cowboy like i know but if it gets around the regs for a couple of days a year then.... Any better ideas??????? |

I was just looking at some pictures of an Easytrack day and a lot of the roll bars on the 7's are about as much use as a chocolate fire guard, and as you say the windscreen wouldn't support anything. You would actualy be relying on a straight line between the top of the bar and the most solid part of the front of the car. Personaly I wouldn't go on track without a decent bar that is above the top of my head even though it makes the car look ugly. Good luck. Tim |
