Free FF1600 Race Entry - Oulton Park - 31st July

The NW FF1600 Championship racers who enter Round 9 at Oulton Park on Sat 31st July, can now have a second race [non championship] for FREE. There will not be an entry fee for this second race. There will be second races for both Pre87 and Post 86.

You must do the paid for championship race to qualify for your second free race. These races will be at the end of the day, to allow time for repairs, reprepping etc.

What an incentive this is for other regional drivers to come and experience Oulton Park. Two races for £165 should ensure full grids, so enter now.

The second 'Free' Post86 Race [classes A, B and C] will also be the second running of the Colin 'Moose' Benn Memorial Trophy, presently held by it's inaugural winner Stuart Gough

And the same weekend as the Irish DH at Sillystone, but all the main people will be at Oulton. You could even do Edwina and Oulton [4 races] for £305]. What a bargain. You could also gain a few more ***********, StickerTech and ThisweekTech customers. See how I think of you.

You could even have a third race by entering the Monoposto 1600 round if you really wanted.

One qually, Free race in finishing order of champ race.

Reverse grid would be chaos. Imagine Portly Hackett on pole. There would be an oil slick even before the reds go out [lights that is - the flags would take a few more seconds]

You told me you weren't going to rise to the bait [a bit of a FLY fishing joke there] as all these "have a go at Sprocket" jibes are upsetting you. You can't take the banter like you used to when you were younger.

Seems a good idea to let Matt use your wheels though and you did say you'd like to see a quick, modern Ray at Oulton. If you are reading this Chris Roche, no apology forthcoming

I wouldn't mind a reverse grid, or a draw for starting positions...it would be very popular with the spectators...Moose would definitely approve...by the way are the pre 87 cars ever going to race for the Moose trophy?

Steve,
I'd like to arrange another FF1600 Handicap race like the one I did in the 80s' - Moose loved that one. Staggered start every 5, 10 seconds or so, with the slowest going first and the quickest last - maybe even a credit lap for the very slowest. This way the spectators get 'lots of starts' and 'will he, won't he make up the gap' spectating opportunities.
The 80s' race had the slowest car [Mike FIA GT Newton when he was just starting out] looking unassailable with 2 laps to go and a 22 second lead, but he finished a very close 5th. The top 3 were blanketed by 0.5s at the flag. I seem to recall that Brian Cooke won it and a black car [possibly Simon Wayne] carving through the field like a knife through butter].
It is also excellent blue flag practice for your friends -the marshals.
