Let us not forget....Michele Alboreto
Many of you will be aware that April 30 marked eight years since Roland Ratzenbergers fatal accident in 1994: and that the following day made it eight years since Ayrton Senna was killed as a result of injuries sustained in an accident the same weekend...
...But let's not forget April 25. That day last year, five times GP winner, and runner up in the 1985 World Championship, Michele Alboreto was killed testing an Audi sportscar at the Lausitzring test venue. Rest in peace, Michele |

Thank you for reminding us of this. I hadn't realized it was a whole year ago. I remember seeing the images of that shredded Audi; profoundly depressing, and a reminder that no matter how good the cars going very, very fast is extremely dangerous, and how courageous are the drivers who do it.

I saw him race in sports cars and he was a charming and friendly man who really enjoyed his racing. It was wonderful to see a man who raced because he loved racing and never complained when things went wrong.
I'm sure he's up on the Heavenly Grid showing them how it's done. |

You're right there Liz. Even in dark days at Footwork in 1991 or the Lola debacle in 1993, he never complained and always had a cheerful demeanour about him. Half the time he would joke about his on-track fortunes, just to make it easier for everyone around him, and for himself.
He was a wonderful man and is sorely missed by all. |

Yes, a great driver and a great man. I actually started a thread here on the 25th to mark it.

He was great...I only heard stories because I was too young to watch...and this proves my theory that Lausitz is a terrible place!
