I agree 100% and miss him greatly. Because of my age I only remember races from 97ish onwards, but if I had to make a top5 list of the best overtaking moves I've seen, 2 possibly 3 would be by JPM.

What I dont quite like is why he has to have a dig at F1 anytime he is in a mile radius from a microphone, but he is a true racer.

Trying to get through to everyone else in the world who think F1 is the greatest racing series on the planet.

Funny how a discussion that has nothing to do with Juan Pablo Montoya somehow has everything to do with John Paul Montana.

it was just a cheap smart arse remark not a question. but if you insist, I watch it because it's exciting and awesome and interesting on many levels, and because i'm a webber fan and last season was the best F1 season I've seen for many a year, since before the dreary reign of the schumacher machine

Last year we had a closely fought points race and some quite good quali sessions,
but very little actual racing action. In fact one of the players (Whitmarsh?)suggested that if people wanted to see racing action they go and watch gokarts.
That is just plain wrong from a series that promotes itself as the pinnacle of racing and then damages motor racing by pandering to vested interests.

F1 is the major point that motor racing contacts the public, and many of us feel it could do better, much better! The races are pretty boring and do little to promote the sport.

Don't you think there are major changes that should be made and have been put off to the point of being ridiculous?

He is more than capable of pulling himself. Never liked him in V8SC, and was glad to see him go. He certainly does not warrant more than a passing mention in an F1 forum. My opinion. I understand (well, I dont understand, but I believe) there are some who think differently to that.

I thought the same thing when he drove in the V8's. He's very likeable in the Cup series though.

From The Glen last year.

He is very likeable. My favourite Ambrose moment was when he pulled over to let Jimmie Johnson win at Infineon, I thought that showed great sportsmanship.

F1 is incredibly complex with a myriad of competing interests and perspectives from the FIA, rights holders, dozens of sponsors, manufacturers and all the teams. herding cats would be easier than organising that lot. for example if the FIA brought in the kind of radical changes you've mentioned before there would probably be a genuine break away series formed immediately and those new rules would become irrelevant as there wouldn't be any cars to use them. I think F1 is moving slowly in the right direction, that's about all you can expect

I do on the rare road course outings but he hardly appears on the oval coverage. After so many years in NASCAR he should be doing better on the ovals by now. Compare his performance to Will Power in indy who was getting great results in his first year on ovals... I follow Will Power and Ryan Briscoe as well as Webz, last year was a great Indy season

Oval racing in an Indycar is stupid easy compared to a Stockcar.

Okay so we just keep fiddling while Rome burns.

We could always invite popstars and put on a huge concert to boost the GP attendence figures - all young age group demographic too, fans one and all.
