I think you have to bear in mind it was aimed at the average F1 or football fan, hence the basic nature and lack of big words.
C4 are going to have a hard time soon competing with the World Cup so maybe they are weaning people in slowly After all most fans will be in France and will not be watching. Simon |

I didn't bother to watch it. I'll wait for Eurosport's excellent coverage to start with last years race highlights.

I agree the programme was a bit of a jumble, with this year's prequal mixed up with last year's race footage. Strangely my wife seemed uninterested in my running commmentary, (I was standing there, ooh it was wet, that poor guy in the French Viper, ooh it was even wetter then etc.)
On the plus side at least we got to see some of this year's cars in action, which for most us was a first. |

I think you're all being far too complimentery about it.
It was rubbish - those 2 second clips were all out of chronological order. The only saving grace was that one of them had me doing my double yellow flag waving at the lap 3 car park bit. And as for the facts - was it Warren Hughes and the great Mike (dodgy motor) Brewer that told us the Mulsanne hump had been reduced by 12 inches in order to make it safer cos that was where Dumbreck went flying off in the 99 race. Oh, how I larfed! That'll be a 12 foot drop in the track surface, and Dumbeck visited the woods on the run down to Indianapolis. Finally, to cap it all, it really sounded like there will be no TV coverage, (which the 4car motorsport TV schedules back up) it'll all be on a webcast. Absolootely soo****inperb. Can anyone tell me how to video a webcast? |

And while more that 12 inches has been shaved off the hump I don't think it's quite 12 foot, more like 6. But who's counting. That Merc has a lot to answer for, both the hump and the gurnies on the back wing were down to it. FG |

Yep, people keep getting confused because there were 3 airborne incidents with the Mercs in 99. Was'nt it Webber that took the flip during the Saturday morning warmup at the Mulsanne hump, hence the reason for all the confusion.

as I went up and down the new steps cut into the bank visiting some marshalling mates who did that very spot last year. But ok, I don't want to start an arguement, whatever, certainly a damn site more than 12 inches. Last edited by Bodysnatcher; 27 May 2002 at 11:18. |

Yes Webber, did flip twice, once in quilifying and one in the pre-race warm up, also I like how they said Dumbreck, fliped on the Mulsanne, I thought it was on the run down from Mulasanne Corner to Indianapolis?
