Going back to post 73, according to the entry list car number 111 in the R Racing category is driven by Benjamin Tebbutt and according to various sources online is the SPA 003 driven by Mark Skaife in 1991 and 1992 to win two Gold Stars.

Belatedly here are some photos from the Classic. there are a few hope that is OK.
It was good to meet EB, Greenmachine and John875, all good blokes and enthusiasts.
Most photos are Group A and group C ( Australian touring cars 1973-1984 ) touring cars.
Keep in mind that they are all period original cars, no replicas.
First a few of my Group A BMW 635 CSi driven by period owner Charlie O'Brien

Great pics all, thanks. For those of us that are fans of touring cars, they are a treat!

drbob, often wondered what ‘diff locking’ refers to on the front spoiler of your car?

My fav if I have to chose is the Craven Mild car....

Some great footage there dr bob..... in the second vid where Charlie is hanging on on the outside through Southern Loop after the start, holding his pace all the way up to the hairpin to get the line and pass Jim was very impressive. From experience not the easiest place to be through the loop without losing time and bulk places. Charlie seems to be a class act, he still has it, and seems respectful of the car yet driving fast, within himself and with no dramatics. Respect.

Sent you an email through tenths after the event but not sure if you got it... just to say thanks for your hospitality, time and answering my questions when you probably had better things to do... you are a gentlemen, and I look forward to catching up again wherever, when all this business dies down.

I know you talked of taking the car to Europe but guess any plans like that are on hold given.....

Anyway a pleasure to meet you and glad the car went so well pretty much out of the box. Bodes well for the future.

All the best and keep safe.
Chris.

Enjoyed the vids too, thanks doctor, and the song of the other 6 Series - probably Grp 2 not A- is a pure melody. Agreed you have a good driver respecting the car.

Enjoyed those vids - thanks Dr Bob! It was good to meet you and chat, you were pretty pleased then, must be feeling quite satisfied after the weekend. Too bad things have gone pear shaped since, but that is out of anyone's control - we just have to be happy we had an unaffected weekend, and as far as I am aware, no infections linked to the event?

EB, you are right, that was great placement, and good car control - the outside there can be quite slippery.

Hello Chris
I didn't get your message probably because my inbox was full
I have emptied it and hopefully your message will come through
Thanks

Gerard I am mot sure if the black JPS BMW 635 has an M6 engine. I will check.
I know it is a twin cam 6 cylinder with the 24 valve head.

Gerry, I suspect not Group 2 but the Group C category that was used for ATCC pre Group A (early 70's to mid 80's.)
(Group C allowed more mods and flared arches etc) The specifics allowed I cant be sure but...

Whatever the category entered, the black one sounds great too. May be not a vierundzwanzig ventiler after all. The induction looks different from Bob's thanks to the good pics, Chris and Dr!

The one I posted above is a Group C car I think, with dr bob's being Group A.

Yep, right. Drbob's induction is quite different and the air channel is a pure wonder. I remember that the 635 after '82/83 were quite different in terms of engine -head, management, ignition…- and suspension. I raced the first model and keep a good souvenir from it. A little bit heavy may be.
