Driver's Poll - Sydney's Sunday Telegraph

Story Here

Interesting to see another controversial discussion in Sydney's leading Sunday newspaper... telling because in the header line, is a logo that looks suspiciously like the V8Supercar black and orange emblem... all written by previous provocateur James Phelps.

There is the article above, as well as several graphs underneath... no definition of sample size, or indeed whether all drivers were polled, or whether they were V8Supercar drivers or truckies, or cab drivers

The Good
1. Which team will win Bathurst?
- 6 FPR
- 6 Team Vodafone
- 3 HRT
- 2 DJR
- 2 GRM
- 7 Sprint Gas Racing

(Sprint Gas Racing... You can imagine teams following party lines but where did the other 5 come from??)

2. Who will win this year's championship?
- 40.9% Jamie Whincup
- 31.9% Mark Winterbottom
- 18.2% Garth Tander
- 4.5% Rick Kelly
- 4.5% Lee Holdsworth

3. Who is the most talented of the drivers?
- 5 Garth Tander
- 4 Jamie Whinchiup (sp..)
- 2 Mark Winterbottom
- 2 Craig Lowndes

The Bad
1. Would you ever consider switching from Holden to Ford or vice versa if the money was right?
- 42.9% Yes
- 23.8% Yes, but not for the money
- 4.7% Possibly
- 28.6% No

(So 71.4% of drivers surveyed would switch in the right circumstances...)

2. Do you have aspirations to drive elsewhere in the world?
- 75% Yes
- 25% No

(Presumably thats not a rentacar in Hawaii...)

3. Should there be more international races?
- 72.7% Yes
- 27.3% No

The Ugly
1. Who is past their used (sic) by date?
- 7 Mark Skaife
- 6 Russell Ingall
- 3 Paul Morris

2. What is the worst track to race at?
- 8 Winton
- 6 Queensland Raceway
- 3 Eastern Creek

3. What event do you hate going to?
- 27.4% Winton
- 13.6% Eastern Creek
- 13.6% Queensland Raceway
- 9% Oran Park
- 4.6% Perth
- 4.6% Bahrain
- 4.6% Bahrain (Travel)... totalling 9.2%
- 22.4% N/A or None

(Doesnt speak well for the much hyped international round if 9.2% of those polled dont want to go there....)

4. Which is the most disliked team?
- 6 Team Kiwi Racing
- 4 HRT
- 3 Team Vodafone
- 2 FPR

(Mr John has some work to do it seems... )

5. Who is the least talented driver?
- 7 Marcus Marshall
- 7 Michael Patrizi
- 2 Tony D'Alberto
- 1 Paul Dumbrell
- 1 Paul Morris
- 1 Pace car driver

(I dont think Mr Jones would be very happy about that result...)

Again this stuff is likely a puff piece designed to stimulate discussion, interesting that it appears to be sanctioned by V8SC with their logo sitting shinily on the page...

Intresting story, but the big headline was that JC was not liked and overated, but his name was nowhere in the polls.

And Sprint Gas to win Bathurst come on now.

The Sprint Gas thing.. is more likely a production error... the graph was a bar chart, and they needed to put the text inside it... if there was only 1 vote for that team, the text would have changed colours.

Pehaps washed up ones that can not get a ride in better comps, and have a pocket full of money.

That's a laugh! News Ltd are the biggest bunch of "low lifes" on the planet. How could they possibly have the outright gaul to publish any criticisms about others!
