I am told that drivers must drop four of their results from the TOCA championship this year - is this correct ? If so, how will it affect the championship ? Surely Anthony 'Mr Consistent' Reid will sh1t out due to this rule, maybe MULLER could benefit as he drops some of his DNF's...

you are correct fb, here's a list drivers who still can end up dropping points:
REID 2 [5,6] MENU 1 [2] MULLER 1 [3] PLATO 1 [3] TARQUINI 1 [3] NEAL 1 [1] The first number after the name is the no. of races from which they drop points, should they finish all six remaining races. The numbers in square brackets represent there worst scores. eg. if Reid and Menu both finish all the last six rounds Reid drops 11 to Menu's 2. The bottom line appears to be Reidy has far more to lose than anyone else. |

I notice that our dear Rickard has nothing to lose, so to speak. I wholly blame that on the Prodrive team for their cheating throughout the year, and to Reid, who deserves at least - well - all of the blame for some of Rickard's no-scores...

Les - the rationale is for punishing dull gits who finish every race but don't win many
F1 used to have a similar rule, I think it was best 11 races from 16 - they got rid of it some while back though |

Rickard's luckless year might just do him a favour now as both his teammates will have to drop points and he won't. I live in hope...
Reid is an oaf. It was his fault Rickard lost a certain win and second at Silverstone. He tapped his rear in the sprint, making him have to pit to have the rear bumper removed when he was leading. Then he is disqualified in the feature for his rear wing being 1mm (!) out. Apparently this is also caused by his taps from behind in the sprint. Nice one Reidy. Grrr...

Really ? I thought it was to stop a particular car totally running away with the series as Nissan did last year.

Not really - they've had the drop score system for a while I think, abnd Nissan still ran away with it in '99. The ballast's meant to stop that problem. Certainly in '98 a few people were worried that Rydell would lose out as he was quite consistent (but did win a few unlike someone I can think of!) but he was OK in the end, he'd retired enough.
