Michael Iamundi wins Canadian Formula 1200 National Championship Twice

*For Immidiate Release*
The Canadian Formula 1200 Championship had a very eventful season. Racing in Shannonville, Mosport International Raceway and Calabogie, 23 Drivers competed with us in the 2009 season. We saw a mix of sunshine, rain, fog, wind, and one this season even hail. It was not only a dramatic but yet another close season.
Michael Iamundi dominated season, winning eleven races, with a couple of mechanical problems. Michael Iamundi won the 2009 season with a tight finish in the drivers points yet again. Andrew McMurrary was a podium regular and top 5 finisher. Andrew took some amazing onboard video footage as well, showing drivers how it is import to draft and finished the season in second place. Eric Barret was the new 2009 Vallis Cup winner for this year, also winning 4 of the 18 races of the season Eric Barret finished the season on a high note with third overall.
TLM Racing driver Keenan Harris will be the 2009 Rookie of the Year. Coming into Formula 1200 after karting Keenan has performed outstanding, fourth overall was his overall standing. Phil Wang had a few podium spots, joining team-mate Michael Iamundi in Calabogie, and Vallis Cup weekend, fifth overall the season. Sergio Pasian was another Rookie who did a good job through the season with podiums and regular top five finishes. Sergio Pasion was sixth overall in is first racing season for Formula 1200
Robert Tronchi had a tough year, but did a good job trying to battle it out for top five finishes. Unfortunately Robert was sick the last weekend and couldn’t make it for the final race weekend. Robert Trochi was seventh overall. Bill Mitchell did an outstanding job with racing again this season with his newly developed BRD car. One of the longest running drivers in the sport Bill managed a respectable eight overall. Andre Bonaldo the third rookie for this season was 9th overall. Coming from karting as well, he quickly moved up the Formula 1200 grid. Taylor Near of TLM racing finished off the top ten in points. Having a few scary moments he still was managed to come back in finish the season in tenth.
Carlo Triolo was another rookie of TLM racing and Formula 1200. Having close battles with Kyle Kosir and Eugene Cartini he managed a respectable eleventh overall. Michael Rogers was a part of the action this season a couple of podium sports put him twelfth this season. Eugene Cartini beat out his team-mate Kyle Kosir in the final race of the season for thirteenth overall. Aaron McCaulley learned a lot in his first year of Formula 1200. The Sixth rookie on the grid, he finished fourteenth this season.
Rookie drivers Kyle Kosir and Scott Laporte both finished the season in fifteenth and sixteenth spot. Tony Thorton came back to race Formula 1200 and with all the tough luck he finished seventeenth overall. Sam Mandia was back this year the oldest driver on the grid. Dave Aird had his fun with a brand new chassis both finishing off the grid with eighteenth and nineteenth overall.
The Canadian Formula 1200 Championship has been producing stars all over Canada. Most Recent was 2008 Rookie of the Year winner Alex Ellis who was 2nd overall. Alex Stepped up into Formula BMW for the 2009 season and just finished trying out for the Grand Prix Shootout.
