New RS Spyder Team

Hi
This is my first post so hope nobody beats me to this.
Mariantic have announced the name of the new RS Spyder team but has anyone noticed the name of their race engineer on their website? One Huit Wiedekoper (not a common name), so does this mean the new british LMP1 project is dead? completed? or never actually existed? answers on a postcard please.

Actually I read it on this very forum in that very post!

Credit indeed to DSC, but they are now asking for real username & password details so I didn't see the story there.

Since apparently this team doesn't even have their facilities built, I assume this will be the team with the 6th RS Spyder, possibly for Petit, and not the team getting the 5th RS Spyder for Utah?

Much confusion....

What seems to be known... They are not the 5th Spyder.

The team getting the 5th Spyder, has been said to be getting two... perhaps #5 and #6. Perhaps there is some confusion around this... or not.

I would think a race team that doesn't even have a shop built yet can't expect to be on the grid this year. Maybe an RS Spyder for next year then?

So this would be the seventh then? In that case, it's definitely not for this year since Porsche said they're done building Spyders for 2007 after completion of the sixth. Number 5 was going to mystery team for use later this year, and #6 is supposed to go to that same team later on.

Wiet Huidekoper is well known in the Dutch racing community and I suppose he's known outside Holland too.

From a VIRgin lot to living in the shop can be done PDQ. That is not a good barometer for when they could have an entry ready for the grid!

The biggest hurdle has not been the building of the chassis but having an engineer to go with it! Maybe with some creative shuffling on the "works" team they could come up with one for a partial year in a 7th Spyder!?

Anyway you slice it, at this time, its a little murky!!

Just curious: 01 and 02 were Penske in 2006. 03 and 04 are now presently Penske for 2007. Which ones do Dyson have now if 05 and 06 are getting ready for a shakedown and in production?
Quote:
The chassis delivered to Dyson racing was 9R6-004. The next Dyson chassis is numbered 9R6-005. The show car (recently shipped from Los Angeles) is 9R6-001 (the 9R6 designation was given to all chassis this year, including the ones built previously). You can figure out the rest
Quote:
So last years cars were retroed to 9R6's? Did Penske's 06 cars make a trip to Weissach and are back already, were they returned to Penske, did Dyson get a really good deal, is one here already and the other getting ready to return, or are both still in Wiessach and headed this way soon? Or is it simpler to ask if 001-003 are the same tubs/chassis from last years cars?
Quote:
Yes (though the latest Porsche official line denied it all).
Quote:
Sound very reasonable, but there is one thing that doesn’t fit in the big picture.

Penske used 002 & 003 in ALMS 06, 001 as a test car. O.k.

The 07 evo spec Spyder first turned its wheel at Weissach in beginning of October. At this time 002 & 003 were still racing in the ALMS, with 001 as test car. Thus I doubt the theory that the 2007 Penske Spyder are the converted 2006 chassis, seams there are existed at least 4 Spyder around that date. And if you like, also a fifth one, the evo spec show car which was on Display in Paris and Essen. But this is a show car only without engine and carries an entirely different chassis number than his brothers.

Here are the Bear's comments, as of last night:

Conzus Motorports is not the purchaser of the Spyder pictured (in recent articles), a car which will soon be delivered to another team. Conzus has just broken ground on a new shop in Homestead, Florida, and since they will not make an initial payment to Porsche until May, no build-up of their Spyder has yet begun. This is the team that Murphy said would be disappointed if Hartmut’s comments about the two pictured chassis going to the same team, and being the last to be built this year were correct, because they (Conzus Motorsport) are not that team. That is what the Bear hears, anyway. So we still don’t know what team will debut at Miller Motorsport Park. The saga continues.
