It's not a sensible move because winning in Germany last year did not attract more teams and drivers. Indeed one of the two teams that had been running Lolas switched to Dallaras this year.

I have no idea why Ultimate, who appear to be well-funded, did not go to Lola rather than Mygale. I'm sure they would have been more successful, and it must be easier to deal with a manufacturer based in the UK rather than France.

Big budget used wisely?

Grubmuller now own hitech - I believe.... And I dont think Asmer is paying a penny....

Anyway, hitech have links with ASM, and may well be sharing parts..

But obviously not set up data, given his Masters performace

Is VW's F3 involvement part of a larger plan d'ya think to include F1? It would certainly be one way to do it. Perhaps an engine deal only, to start. Or is that just too optimistic in a pipedream sort of way?

Can't think that there's ever been any definate link between a F3 engine programme & F1

A couple of random facts:

In qualifying for for Race 1 at Silverstone this weekend, Rodolfo Gonzalez was 3rd in a Mugen-Honda powered Dallara and in qualifying for Race 2, Michael Devaney was 3rd in a Mygale Mercedes. The days of Dallara Mercedes domination are not with us just yet.

Sev has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I wonder how Asmer would do in a Mygale Mugen-Honda...

So if either Rodolfo Gonzales or Michael Devaney were driving for Hitech, they would be just as successful as Asmer has been?

I think that the only reason for a team to run a Lola chassis is being funded to do it. Maybe this year Lola limited their spending .

Dunno either, although I have to say that this chassis is the first one, since the latest challenge wing to Dallaras, which doesn't seem to be a dallara copy.
And the results are encouragingly consistent.
It will be interest tho to see what happens next year with a brand-new chassis.

This is a question Esteban Guerieri has to wonder often, since Asmer'seat was actually destined to him: had he waited just some days to sign for Ultimate, he'd have been hired by Hitech instead of Marko.

Let's hope they can give Mercedes a run for their money. Maybe not now, but next year hopefully. And I hope it give's Holzer a boost too, the guy is better than he looks now (if you can win the Formula BMW world final, you can't be that bad). And good to see Summerton and Goetz back.

Definately, hope Maxi can see out the season now, since he had to withdraw from Formula Masters due to a lack of budget (correct?) when he was running very well. VW have chosen some pretty decent drivers
