Grand Prix Masters Brands Hatch

Who's going to the Grand Prix Masters and do you know where the camping will be? (I take it that it will be in the same place as the A1's)

Thanks to all you Guys and Gals who helped make my first ever races at Brands so enjoyable! I race for fun and the atmosphere at the meeting was great (apart from inside the car, when the rain started as we sat in the collecting area on slicks.....)! Looking forward to another opportunity to race the GP circuit and knock some more seconds off my lap times.

Also must say that having seen the Elan accident in GD and the fantastic way it was dealt with am glad to have you all trackside.

Thanks again.

Well, the weekend ended with a bang.
The learning points are
1 - it pays not be first to the car & checking on the driver when your "mate" sprays you with powder ( )
2 - the ignition cutout may be hard to find or reach when the car has changed shape.
3 - Two good guys can make a bad situation safe pretty damn quickly.

thanks lads, I was holding my breath for that one

I'd like to thank all the marshals and officials, both personally and on behalf of the Masters organisation, for three great days. Everything ran like clockwork and everybody entered into the spirit of what Masters racing is all about - happy competitors, great cars, good, clean and fair racing and, hopefully a good 'show' for both the public and all of us lucky enough to be part of the meeting. I had very many compliments and messages of thanks, from competitors who went out of their way to speak to me, about the standard of marshalling and the friendly and efficient way everybody went about their various jobs and I'm happy to be able to pass those on.
A special thanks for everybody involved in the incident at Paddock bend during the last race yesterday, which looked very dramatic. Fortunately, the injuries to the driver are not thought to be serious - the same cannot be said for the car, which I think comes in the category of 'comprehensively destroyed' and the team asked me to pass on their thanks for the speedy and efficient way that everything was dealt with. Also thanks to a number of posts around the circuit where stranded cars were magically spirited away to places of safety without the need for safety cars or red flags.
Just an additional personal thanks to all those who went out of their way to come and say hello. I spent so many happy years as a Brands Hatch 'regular' and I had lots of "do you remember when" conversations which reminded me of why we all do this!
Hope to see you all again soon

Looks like I missed a good meeting. Car broke down on M3 Sunday morning on way to circuit. Going in for repairs tomorrow, looks like water pump but won't know for sure until the mechanics have had a proper look.

It was 2 top blokes Piglet, shame the viddy did'nt cath the start of it, a fairly innocent slide...
MattFord did the wriggling underneath to check the driver and find the damned electrical switch to turn off the fuel pump. The switch on the scuttle being unreachable.
Kerry did the spraying of Matt, the driver and the fire.

I thought initially that the roll cage had been ripped out when the roof hit first time, but it was only the roof panel, screen and doors. There was then only a fairly low roll bar left for protection.
Historics eh!, at least there was a roll bar.

Well done Al, Matt & Kerry for a great job. Saw it happen from post 6
Hope the driver makes a full and speedy recovery.
Had a fantastic weekend. Thanks to Neil, Paul and the guys on post 2 on Friday, Chris and Theresa on Post 3 on Saturday and Mick, Brian & Darrell on Post 6 on Sunday. Flagging all 3 days and kept quite busy.
Well done Theresa for winning the prize. I guess that makes up for all the incidents you had to deal with, but thanks for yellow flagging on Saturday.
Thanks to all the drivers for racing such wonderful cars. Thanks to God for keeping the rain away, mostly, until we finished.
Lastly, thanks to Karen for recovering my beloved gloves.

It's great footage - I wonder if the BMMC might be interested in using it for training? It really shows the problems of dealing with an inverted car that's on file fairly close to the edge of the circuit.

I think thats a great idea, do you think i should approach them? I have another 3 or four videos that follow that of the marshals and medics and one of putting the car back on four wheels. I will put these on youtube soon.

If you are at Brands Hatch this weekend (MGCC) or BARC next weekend, search me out (in Starter's Box). I can then bring it up at next BMMC-SE committee meeting in June -- looks interesting.
