Juniors for new MG squad

Gareth Howell and Colin Turkington look set to pair up in a new satilite MG team. MG are pushing to develop young talent and with this privately funded, 2001 spec team they hope to achieve this. The team will be sponsored by a music firm, which will be announced soon.

IT will be a very stong driver combination, so much for the whinges of some drivers that the best young drivers cant get touring car drives.

Great news, a rival for Vauxhall in the manufacturers championship and a further two cars for the Touring class.

Talking about the GR drivers what is Mat Jackson going to be doing this year??? because if Gareth is worth a touring drive then I feel that Mat is as they are equal at the very least.

Let us all hope that if it is Atomic Kitten the racing effort is of a much more professional standard than last seasons attempt.

No, this Gareth Howell, had a good background in karting before moving into the ford fiesta championship when he was 16. He finished second to Gordon Sheddon in the 2000 championship. In 2001 he ran in the production class with GR Motorsport, where he was usually the second quickest of the teams 4 cars.

. He finished second to Gordon Sheddon in the 2000 championship.... and only just. 2 points in front Matt Pinny just let him hold second place, Matt being only in his first year. Makes me sound good does'nt it. Thankyou Takuma

But still beat you in 10 out of 14 races! And out qualified you 11 times, I think it was. 3 of those 4 times that you finished in front was after Shedden had already won the championship.

Nothing like blowing your own trumpet, eh Matt? By the way, can you tell us why you got the nickname "Whining Pinny"?
