I'm in favor of Sirotkin. Let's see what he can do in a proper car.

After some bullish showings and few mistakes, I'd take Sirotkin over Kvyat.....

Considering how bad the Williams has been this season, I think Sirotkin's done alright

He remains on the Mercedes program, so this might be all tied in with the Engine deal.
I'm really hoping that Williams get a good experienced driver alongside him (not that there is many still available to choose from), but I fear it will end up being someone with cash instead of talent.

So that just leaves the other Williams seat, the other STR seat and for them to announce the two racing point seats

Chatting at work just now & looking through Twitter and other sources, good chance of Albon at STR and Ocon at Williams.
Maybe.
You probably read it somewhere else first, though.

Ocon would be a good choice. But does he bring many rubles?

Ocon’s last hope is with Williams, otherwise he might have to take what students call a gap year

Surely Ocons chances at Williams have decreased with Russell going there? If they've got 2 Mercedes drivers then presumably the engines will be very heavily subsidised but where's the rest of the budget coming from? Sirotkin brings cash so I'd have thought was likely to stay and Ocon gets to go back packing for a year.

Ocon could be Mercedes third driver for next year, getting to know the team & how it operates, maybe the odd run in free practice, then, if they have a vacancy (or think he's better than Bottas) slot him into a drive for 2020.

There are a couple of seats left in IndyCar. That might be preferable to back packing.

That's pretty much saying 'I give up on F1'. Ocon is too good for IndyCar.

If he can't get a drive in F1 next year what's the alternative, back packing? At least he would be driving.

Taking a year off is not a bad idea at all. Hülkenberg did it and he's doing just fine at Renault. The point is to stay in the F1 paddock.
