I have the feeling on some ALMS rounds this year a GT1(and even maybe a GT2)can finish on overall podium

Hasnt that happened before with one of the Corvettes in ALMS, I think they finished third outright in one race, not recently, at least several years ago. But the there has definitely been a Corvette in the top five outright at several races, I can't just remember which races.

Vici will be announcing their full season program soon. Maybe we can expect 2 or 3 cars after Sebring? I was only counting on one. I find it hard to believe they have 3 2009 RSR's.

I believe they have to have air conditioning to meet ACO rules of internal temperature limits. Porsche apparently does not have an A/C kit for the older models unless I'm mistaken.

Huge hints towards a VICI race seat for Johannes Stuck in that press release.

Looking back over the years, there were a few other years where low car counts and high attrition rates among the LMP entrants thrust GTS/GT1s either into the top 3 or quite close. In 2000, Vipers and a Corvette finished 4, 5, 6 at Mosport in 2003 they managed 4 races where they got up to 4th. In 2004, a GT1 finished 3rd at Mid-Ohio, Portland and Road America and some close calls (4ths) at Sebring, Mid-Ohio, Lime Rock, Sonoma, Portland, Mosport, Road America, PLM and Laguna. In 2005 GT1s achieve top 3 finishes at Lime Rock (actualy 3 to 7) and at PLM (3 & 4). with close calls at Sebrring (4-6) and Road America (4&5). We already mentioned 2006 in the previous post. With the arrival of Acura in 2007 and the strong LMP2 class, there were no more top threes or close calls for GT1s in 2007 or 2008. So it hasn't been that unusual for GTs to get into the top 3 in ALMS races.

Anyway, the allusion seemed to be that the name, rather than the driver, was well-known, ya dig? |

I know we're still a month away from Sebring and an epic LMP1 battle but the announcements of the past week got me thinking that Petit could very good as well. Think about the possible P1 NEW entries at Petit based on rumours:
Aston Martin (X 2) Mundill Pescarolo Judd ECOspeed Dome S102 Judd? Then add the regular suspects and MAYBE the R15's and 908's, a Zytek and you see what I mean? Plus, in GT2 the new Corvette and the Jaguar XKR. All in all, possibly 5 new chassis compared to Sebring! It will have a totally different make up than the Sebring grid but offers diversity as well. |

Guess now we will know if the diesel/Radical mating was the holdup or if ECO can fill all our hopes and bring a new chassis to the track, S102 is the coupe from last year right? I can't make Sebring, it sucks but senior year and work schedule precludes it, but hoping for PLM this year finally and having the new Vettes, XKs, Dome, some rich guy's new Aston toys and maybe the R15/908 battle. Would make it a GREAT first ALMS race for me to get to, I'm pessimist in everything else in life but I'm going to be an eternal optimist for PLM and maybe Laguna as well.

I don't believe ECOSpeed has anything to do with ECO Racing.

Here is an article from Road & Track that was posted on the ALMS forum. It says the Jag XKR may show as soon as Long Beach and an Audi R8 may be in GT2 at Petit? Is the reporter is being hand fed info by the ALMS or just speculating?
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=2 Hopefully car counts won't suffer too badly. Black Swan, van der Steur, Corsa, Creation, Mundill, and ECOSpeed are the wild cards that could get us to 20 for the smaller events. 2010 should be better if the series gets through this year IMO. I would think the Jaguars news would be more certain then a GT2 Audi. Reading the article I get the impression that the writer has confused the GT3 R8 with any GT2 version which for the moment does not exist (not that we know). Especially when it talks about selling to privateers which the GT3 car will be aimed at.

Thanks, I wasn't sure but looks like the same problems follow the ECO name around, at least for getting a car to the track.
Any chance Dome may change their mind if the money gets confirmed for ECOSpeed? Their press release sounded pretty harsh against them ever providing a chassis, but maybe ECOSpeed could pick up something else with solidified financing? |
