Gerard Hodges should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi Guys, does anybody out there have the results of the 1984 Uniroyal production series, and or photographs of my car. It is a BMW 635csi and was driven in this series by Barrie " whizzo " williams, I would appreciate any help / info / results / photos of the car.

Gerry Hodges.

rallycrosscraig has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
A blue 5GT turbo has come up on ebay anyone recognise it?

Did they use Detection Technique peak boost gauges in any other series than prod saloons?

If not this is probably an ex Production saloon car.

I don't recall the 5 GT Turbo ever competing in UK prodsaloons? It was a one make steed but some owners did the occasional BTCC round as grid fillers.

This looks like an ex one make 5GT Turbo that was prepared by Mark Fish to run in the Super Coupe series. He prepared quite a few of them.

The Renault 5 GT Turbo Cup specification allowed certain modifications away from standard, so the cars would not comply with Prod Saloon regulations. This is why they occasionally appeared in Group A races (although completely outclassed...)

Sorry to bump such an old post - but did the 70s prod cars run on buffed road tyres too. If not, what tyres/size range did they run on?

Hi Folks,There was a Renault 5GT Turbo in the Uniroyal series for a couple of seasons
IIRC.Drivers were Alex Postan and Mike Gidden, car was mainly Yellow and usually
did the long distance races like `86 `Motor show` race at Donington and of course
The Willhire on a couple of occasions.
I seem to remember this car being entered in the Tourist Trophy ETC round, probably 1985 with one or two other Prod saloons that year.

I never saw one of these cars entered in the series. They did do odd long distance events and some BSCC, yes.

Apart from the Colin Davids-run Istel cars were there any other Rovers in Prodsaloons in 86? Dave Pinkney had one, but I can't remember whether this was 86 or 87- if the latter, then maybe an ex-Istel car?.

The other name that rings a very vague bell is Norris Miles or something like that- possibly a New Zealander, ran a black Alfa GTV6 in Uniroyal around 1984/5- I've got a very vague feeling that he may have had, or at least occasionally drove, a Rover after that?

Norris Miles raced a Rover around that time. There was a film of him driving a lap on Silverstone GP Circuit on the Video "Vintage G and T" about Gerry Marshall and Tony Lanfranchi's season.

There's no clip of Norris driving a Rover on Vintage G&T, I have loads of the footage that was filmed for the video and then the final version, so I would love to see if you could post somewhere?
I don't remember Norris being out in '86, must have been a one off appearance.
I still keep in touch with Norris, a bit rare now though, good chap and very quick driver,

Sorry made a mistake Gregor. Don't have video any more. Tim Harvey, Tim Goss, Norris Miles and Trevor Lewis were entered in the Uniroyal Tyres Production Saloon car race at the Tourist Trophy Meeting in 1986. Your father was in the Escort turbo and Patrick Watts in the Uno Turbo. Tony was in the Vauxhall Nova with Ivan Dutton in another Nova. I've the programme in front of me.

Without digging old race programmes and Autosports out of the loft, I remember Harvey and Goss driving the Istel cars, while Miles and Lewis drove their own cars. I've got a vague memory of a third driver being involved- IIRC Harvey and Goss concentrating on the Uniroyal rounds, while the other driver substituted for one of them in the Monroe rounds.

I might well be imagining this, but did historic racer Chris Chiles appear in one at some point?- he certainly had Istel sponsorship (IIRC was he a senior exec at Istel?) and shared Harvey's C2 Tiga on occasion a couple of years later

Isn't the Trevor Lewis Rover the one that Ken Clarke has for sale at the moment or has just sold?

David Pinkney had a red & white prodsaloon Rover about that time ('87 but not sure about '86), and for some reason it's at the back of my mind that might have been the same car, backed by CD Motor Cover.

Did Pinkney take the car over from Miles in '87, or was it one of those shared drives where one driver did the Uniroyal rounds and the other the Monroe?
