It's easy to see why people have no confidence in CAMS.

It's just another Colin Osbourne political round about way of saying nothing at all or avoiding the point. Colin has worked hard to get to shake hands with Michael Schumaker. I hope its all worth it in the end. (But to give him some credit, at least he gets behind the wheel and races).

Colin Osbourne? Isnt he the guy still running those old shytbox MR2's in the 24hr? Those cars must be old enough to smoke now....
Makes you wonder you know how motorsport would operate in this country if they actually had a trained, educated professional business manager at the helm I hear Ray Borrett might be looking for a new position soon... |

Is Colin Osborne the decision maker at CAMS though. Or just the spokesperson.

Gee i donno guys, but it looks like to me that these officials really do scout around on this forum. Would'nt you agree. True Colin Osborne has'nt offered an opology to us, or more importantly, Murphy. But some interesting remarks, depending on what you see between the lines.

Nothing there that makes me either agree with the punishment handed out or have faith in CAMS ability to run motorsport. With Mr. Osbourne's statement I think it's just a case of empty vessels making the most noise.

"In some incidents the prevailing circumstances might justify variations to applications of the standards.... CAMS has initiated an inquiry.... to further develop the approach to be taken in future"
I guess that's about as close to "we got it wrong" as we're ever likely to see. |

Just as a point - it IS possible that the results can be amended IF it is determined that justice was not handed out correctly.
Does anyone recall the Garth Tander incident from Adelaide what 2? 3? years ago? So there IS a precedent for this to happen. |

The way I see it is that Colin Bond has been placed in a position of authority for a reason. He has the experience relevant for his position.
With so many people passing judgement on his judgement, you would think that he would say that it was a 'racing incident'. Which brings me to the fact that maybe he knew something that we didn't, that the sector marshal that reported the incident also has reasons for believing what happened. Or maybe Colin Bond is one of those 1/4 of us that thought it wasn't a racing incident; but I think his experience would point to a factor that we never saw on TV. |

However, it still doesn't alter the fact that if there is ANY doubt about what happened, then there should be NO penalty handed out during the event - it should be dealt with afterwards where ALL the facts can be gathered together and an accurate assessment of the incident made - something the current organisation does not appear to want to do (for whatever reason)

You don't see a jockey in the Melbourne Cup do a stop and go,after the race all parties thrash it out with stewards and veiw all the film available. All this stop and go stuff is ruining the racing, what do they want all the cars parading around with a 50m seperation between them so they don't scratch each others paint?,thats not why I watch V8s.

Yeah true Armco. And the result of the race is'nt announced until any protests are cleared up. It does not take long.
However there are some incidents that can be deal't with during the race. It just seems that to stop people seeing the same rule differently, they have to be more complicated, with no room to look at the prevailing circumstances. |

Except at most rounds, all of the hearings etc aren't finished for a while. Often, a lot of stuff is held over to the following round, or they are at the track until fairly late into the night. I know at the QLD 500 last year, when we left the track at about 7-7:30, there was still a line up 10 deep outside the stewarts office...

What about instead of saying we there is no appeal for these types of decisions. You can appeal an on track penality but if you lose the case there is an a automatic two lap penalty. This means ifn you think the stewards are wrong then you can appeal but if you are wrong you recieve a major penalty. Means teams have to weigh up if there case will be successful.
