Bottas wins and Hamilton got a 10 second penalty. I completely missed the entire race, which couldn't be helped, so it's extended highlights on C4.

Hamilton is now 2 points from a race ban, that would benefit Finnish driver Bottas hugely.

One of the Russian GP stewards was Finnish ex driver Mika Salo.

19) Practice starts
19.1 Practice starts may only be carried out on the right-hand side after the pit exit lights and, for the avoidance of doubt, this includes any time the pit exit is open for the race. Drivers must leave adequate room on their left for another driver to pass.

19.2 For reasons of safety and sporting equity, cars may not stop in the fast lane at any time the pit exit
is open without a justifiable reason (a practice start is not considered a justifiable reason).

It doesn't specifically say you must leave the track and only that you have to move to the right hand side.

It seems like Massi has not been specific enough in the notes, unlike the notes for the previous round. Ron Meadows is an expert in reading the regulations to see what is not said.

That Hamilton asked his team, his team said it was ok so hamilton proceeded on that front.

Hamilton received a time penalty, the team received a fine (as I said they should a page or so back). Both the team and driver made a mistake so both have been penalised

I don’t recall LeClerc receiving penalty points when he did the same thing at Spa (I could be incorrect)

Well it is a bit ridiculous when track limits, speed limits, restart areas etc etc are defined to the mm or kph that the race directors notes don’t specify an exact area do do the starts...

...I’m not defending Hamilton, rule broken got a penalty which is fair enough
