WTCC - support package
Hi guys,
I've started following tourings cars again for the first time in years and I'm seriously considering attending the WTCC races at Brands Hatch this year. One thing I would like to know though is what kind of support races will be there. I've tried to find out myself but have had no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Last year I think they had Formula Palmer Audi, dunno if Formula Masters was there too. They'll probably confirm the supports nearer the time, but personally last year I thought the BTCC was better value with more supports for a cheaper price.

Yeh, the BTCC has a lot of good supports (Clios, FRenault, Seat Cupras, Porsches), better racing (5 wide in to Club at Thruxton?!) and probably cheaper. This year they dropped the FBMWs mid season as the schedule was getting too congested.

Alan Gow has said that he won't be looking for a replacement (for next year) as he wanted to allow some more flexibility in the schedule. That decision is a result of BMW not running the series next year, not the reason why the series won't be run. |

It's a shame WTCC/FIA GT don't run together anymore - I was at Donnington in '03 for th LG SRW event there, and the WTCC/v6/GT made for excellent variety in racing.
Still got a similar lineup with IFM/GT open, but perhaps not such 'prestigious' championships. Unfortunatley, I can't comment on any of the support races for 2003, as I can't remember what they were! |

- FIA GT - ETCC - Formula Renault V6 - Renault Clio V6 Trophy |

The Clios were the only other race?
Maybe thats why I can't remember much in the way of support races! |

Donington 2003 had GT, ETCC, FRen V6 and VW Cup on race day, plus Clio and Clio V6 on the Saturday.
It was a 3hr GT race, so that doesn't leave much room for anything else. |

That is true, if memory serves - Eurosport wanted SRO to cut the races to 2 hours for the TV coverage and SRO said no so split with WTCC etc, and now have gone to 2hr races!

Is the GT Open series making an appearance at Brands?
Worthy replacement to the FIA GT's if the last round is anything to go by! |

And I heard some rumours Jesus Pareja is not happy with the television schedule on Eurosport 2, and that's why there were so few spectators at Valencia (Pareja was the promotor). |
