I raced at Combe 4 times this year and have to praise the drivers who are extremely fast and fair at racing all the way through the field. I haven't raced any Northeners yet but I am thinking of coming up late next year to see how good they really are....

Everyone in the FFord championship at combe are friendly as well which makes them even better IMO

Well, you have to say that the top NW drivers are better than the top FFord 1600 drivers in any othher region simply because of the results they achieve. Look at Hutch's Success, even at thruxton in a car that isnt suited to the fast stuff where the zetec/kent conversin dominate was right up at the front. Also, when he returned to combe for the carnival he made everyone else up thier game with his speed. Stuart Gough has set times that have not been seen in a long while at all the circuits he raced in in his 1600, not to mention his amazing show in the Zetec Winter series. These two alone plus the likes of roberts, Loebell, the other Gough, etc etc seem to be just that bit better than the rest of the countries offerings in my opinion.

Zerofive,

Hutch's car is not suited to a fast track....the RF90 goes ACE on a fast track. He is a 2 times Combe champion having raced there for years so I should have hoped he'd go well. But I agree he is a joy to watch.

Lets settle this, lets see if we can get on an international track such someone in spain for example (because its hot) and get a few from each championship to have some racing ! no-one knows the track, everyone has to travel, plus it would be a great laugh.

Yeah that would be interesting to see darcym.

It was my undersatnding that the 00/01 van diemans are much better through the air than the 91 van diemans etc and as such are a far superior car around thruxton??

blue nose won't be posting for a short while. He is too busy booking exclusive circuit hire at every known Spanish circuit - just in case !!!!!!!

Might as well use Pembrey. No-one goes there - no ferries needed - and it'll be proper british weather.

None of you would get round that stupid first corner hairpin at Pembrey on the first lap of the race.
Therefore, Mike Waite will be 110% in favour of Pembrey. He might even buy himself a new note pad and tape measure for the occasion!!

Ah pasty. Sounds like food. Pembrey it is then. Have you tried a Welsh Oggie? It is a ginormous pastie affair. This is the only reason to go to Wales.

As an aside, I once asked a girl to go to the cinema with me. She asked "what is on?". When I told her it was Moby Dick, she said that she didn't like sex films. I told her it wasn't a sex film, it was about whales. She said that she didn't like the Welsh either.

Reason to go to Knockhill : Scottish Bridies - another meat pie type affair.
Reason to go to Kirkistown : The Pavlova in the Paddock Cafe
Reason to go to NW FF1600 : Cakes, cakes and more cakes.

There's no need to go abroad - just do what they did when they used to allow rallying at Oulton - run it the 'wrong' way round.

You'll see who's committed coming into Lodge as an uphill 90 right, with a blind apex and about 6" of run off. Then there's Druids and the veeery light crest towards Clay Hill...

Racing drivers are just spoilt girlies really once I think about it. Runoff. Safety. Gravel traps. Sissy stuff.

(Ducks for cover.LOL)

Uphill 90 right? It is rallying, through the gravel!!

(I think it was stopped when armco went up as that was laid out for one direction only)

Ok, Ok, So I was lying about it geing a 90 right. I just wanted top see if you were all paying attention. LOL

And no, the reason rallying was stopped I believe was 1/. noise and 2/. they could make more money out of a racing school day.

I (and my wife) have done loads of rallies the 'wrong' way round Oulton inches away from the armco - literally!

Youv'e not lived until you've been round Druids in the dark, on slicks, on a frosty track, sideways with your lights pointing not where you are going.

Yeehaa!

Yeehaa!
Was Druids backwards a right, or left hander Andy, or am I looking for a backhander?
Merry Christmas to you, Di, Stuart and Ian.

Afternoon everyone, just done all my Christmas shopping in 2 hours at the Trafford Centre - no traffic and very quiet - bliss and got to see the lovely Atomic Kitten in the flesh....

Anyway just read up on what you were talking about.

Idea?

Why don't we have a fun Sat afternoon in the early new year at 3 Sisters outdoor Kart track with all the different FF1600 champs in different teams and have a fun battle then all go out for a curry and bond!!!

What do you think - Malc Barfoot (NW racer) runs the circuit so we should be able to get a good amount of track time for little money - PS no moaning about tyres as they run slicks in the wet - great fun...!!!
