Jason Plato at Signon This Morning

In case anyone missed JP in Hailwoods this morning, and would like to here what he had to say, I have uploaded a video here...

http://youtu.be/2OhcA6FS3oI

Whilst it was clearly an exercise in PR, I still appreciated the sentiment of what he had to say. Plus, the cans of KX helped us through a surprisingly uneventful day on Post 20!

Not watched your recording as I was about 6ft from him. Yes a good PR exercise but would still have helped the Honda out of the gravel first. Good to see flash win the title. With regard the KX, the sugar free stimulant version was tasted and poured away. Honda (and others) maybe an oppertunity to bring on a new rival dring to Red Bull. At the end of the day a great day on P9.

Always appreciated when the drivers give up some of their time for us. Had Ollie Jackson with us for some of the fire training at Oulton before the BTCC meeting.

I'd say well done Jason and thanks for the bag of goodies.
Good to see a bit of banter between marshals and drivers

As expected it was a bit of a PR stunt for JP and the MG team. The fruit flavoured drink was consumed on the long drive home, and yes it was a VERY quiet day on Post 20. Thanks to all my incident team for standing in the rain all day without complaining

So marshals go on about how un-appreciated they are from drivers, teams, circuits, organisers, clubs, etc. etc. but when a driver does turn up at sign-on, with goodies in tow and thanks marshals there's people on here that decry it as a "PR stunt".

You can't have it both ways guys!

Totally agree Grant.

Guys, lets be thankful for what we are given whether it's a PR issue or not. Anyone reading this thread would think twice before offering the hand of friendship!!!

I appreciated the thanks and the goodies from jason, MG team, Tesco etc. It was well received with good humour from both Jason and the marshals who attended. Jason did make some "digs" about a certain other team within the BTCC, but that was what we expected from him. The remarks were all done "tongue in cheek" so to say.

I'm sure that if MG had made a remark about marshals on live TV then Honda may(?) have done a similar thing to MG's yesterday.

If any team, driver or sponsor wishes to give thanks or goodies to the marshals then they will be well received.

Note - Michelin gave a goodie bag to all marshals at Saturdays sign on. Bags containing a hat, soft drink, note book, pen and stickers. Thanks Michelin. Does this mean that Dunlop will do the same at the first round in 2013?

As Steve Neal walked past me on the Startline gantry, I made a point of patting my rather rotund waistline, at which he gave a big laugh and thumbs up.

I never saw them (the Michelin stuff), and I met you walking the other way as I arrived to sign on at about 0730.
PS loving the MG Haribo sweeties from that nice man Plato.

As far as I can see, only one marshal, who appears to be a Honda fanboy has made negative remarks about MG/Tesco goodie bag. Sadly BTCC does attract some like that.

The 'MG' chewwy sweets were very welcome thank you very much.

Perhaps MG should've utilised the 'gooey sweet' technology on Jason's tyres Sunday to improve his performance in the wet!
