SSmith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Snetterton 20/21 May 2023, Rds. 7/8/9

Snetterton is coming up next week - unusually early in the year for Snetterton so I wonder if different weather may have an impact on the racing.

Series in action: BTCC, British F4, Porsche Sprint Challenge GB, MINI Challenge JCW, and a warm welcome to the Radical Cup UK

Entry List: TBC early next week

Timetable (V1): https://www.barc.net/wp-content/uplo...metable-V1.pdf

BTCC Qualifying - 15.40-16.10 on Sat 20th May
BTCC Qualifying YouTube Livestream (starts 15.30) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG0MRNc3tis

BTCC Races: 11.25, 14.35, 17.15 on Sun 21st May

BTCC on ITV4 from 10.45 - 18.15

By my reckoning we should see 8 live races on ITV4 + maybe highlights of 2 races from Sun morning.

It was more recent than I thought, 2021 race was Rd. 2 in mid-June. Looking online at past calendars, the last time it was in May was in 1994.

For me Snetterton is always the traditional post-summer break meeting.

Let's hope it warms up by next weekend - I'm about 40 miles south of Snetterton and it was only around 11°C today and it would have been even colder up there from experience. The BBC are currently predicting 16-18°C over the weekend with drizzle on the Saturday and sunny spells on the Sunday https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2637582

I'm sure late 80s/early 90s it was always around May, possibly even the opening round one year? Think the Alfas ran a tribute to Senna in '93 so would've been in May that year

These days that would have been more than enough to force a retirement

Probably was May Bank Holiday 94. The Alfas had a black armband on their bonnet for Senna.

Don't forget though it was the second meeting a couple of years ago, albeit in June.

Anyway I'm looking forward to going to Snett for the first time. Not sure it will quite match being at Brands last year, but should still be fun

Was this the meeting when one of the Volvo's shot off-track backwards at horrendous speed just missing a parked ambulance?

A small black band on the left front on the bonnet - you can just see it on this pic of Simoni's car from the meeting.
