I agree with you Aslak, there's nothing to read in the threadtitle that strictly points to the Alpina GT3,but maybe @FIRE can give us the link for this Audi GT3 thread?

I will send a pm to the mods to change the topic title. IMO this great car (unfortunaly it has no BMW badge) deserves an own topic.

I would also agree that the thread is about "New GT3 Entry" as the thread title says. The original post questions what it could be, with an inquiry about an M6. No mention of anything specific!

I still don't understand given the contention early in the thread that there was an opening between Ascari and Corvetee that Alpina falls between those two in any sort of English alphabet.

Audi, however, fits right in.

Ahem, back on original topic, didn't BMW apply for FIA homologation of the 6-series a few years ago? Never built anything, to my knowledge..

Yes, they applied for a GT1 homologation and the 6 Series shortly showed up in the homologation list of the FIA. But noting else followed.

The best thingis, Audi fits, BMW fits, Cadillac fits, plenty fit. Audi have a car, Alpina have a possible car...

But where does "coming soon" fit in that alphabet?

So rumours BMW Motorsport supports Alpina at the development of the Alpina GT3.

Interesting, the R8 project probably helped Mr Theissen to his wallet.

I guess Porsche's not so covert support for Mühlner (Jörg Bergmeister didn't only race there to help his brothert Tim...) might have played its part as well.

Will they still use the M6 then? Because I've always found that a rather odd and heavy choice if you have the M3 as an option as well.

Alpina doesn´t use the M6. They are developing the Alpina B6S, a 6series with a V8 supercharged engine. And Alpina has no own version of the E92 M3.

A bit off topic but don't want to create a new topic. I just found this car when searching for photos of the Duller M3 E92:
http://www.racingparts-bmw.de/start/...m3_gt3_e92.htm
http://www.racingparts-bmw.de/start/..._gt3_e92_2.htm

Is this an official FIA GT3 car? I assume not because it's the first time I read about this car. Probably they use "GT3" because the car has the same performance as FIA GT3 cars.

Any news about the Alpina GT3? Or do we have to wait until Essen?
