By "modifications" they mean lobbying at the ACO?

Can't think of too many race cars that aren't built underweight and then ballasted to the rules...

Looks like Schnitzer are planing an assault on the 24hours at the Nürburgring. A user from the www.ring1.de - forum emailed Schnitzer and they told him that they'd run an M3 GTR for Jörg Müller and Augusto Farfus in the next VLN-round.

That'd be absolutely brilliant! Porsche, Audi and BMW having a go at it in a field of a few other competitive SP7-9 sounds awesome.

Mind you they will run the testmule in the VLN race which is not the same as the ALMS chassis.

Well, there are no other cars around, aren't there? It makes sense as some sort of "feasibility study"...of course, you need to keep in mind that the 24h next year clash with a WTCC round. Schnitzer (and the drivers) can't be in two places at once...

That is if we assume BMW will be a factory competitor in WTCC next year. Which is by no means confirmed at all....

Exactly. And I'm sure the ADAC would pick a more suitable date if BMW wanted to do both - so I'd expect them to be either in WTCC or at the Ring.

good call - schnitzer would not run the VLN without doing the 24hr & the date for the big one was only announced the other day.
And if they do it like last time, they should be at the Spa 24hr as well. My prediction - BMW will scale back the WTCC effort & have Schnitzer run blue riband GT races (Le Mans world series + 24 hours at 'ring/Spa/Silverstone? but not Le Mans) |

2 VLN rounds in October for Schnitzer. Farfus and Jorg Muller in the first race, Priaulx and Dirk Muller in the second race. |

for those who hate translating...
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/78865 Knew long ago that Schnitzer was going to be the european runner for the M3 GTR, and said so in previous postings. Looks like they will get some of their feedback info from the RLR team, especially from the running of the last two rounds in the ALMS (Petit LeMans and Laguna Seca). My only question is... will they do Sebring, or wait for Monza as the run-up for a possible LeMans attempt? Can't wait... |

Since the RLR cars are chassis numbers 16-21/67-S 901 and 16-21/67-S 903, can we assume this car to be 16-21/67-S 902?
It looks great on BBS wheels as well! |

From what I was told this car was not the same spec as the ALMS cars, so not sure on what chassis it is...
