OK - clearly the position is difficult for some to understand. I'll try and make it as simple as possible, by posing the following question:

In the 2015 season, a team was entered into the BTCC under the name 'Infiniti Support Our Paras Racing'. How much financial support do people think was provided by the brands 'Infiniti' and Support Our Paras' to this team?

If the answer to either of those brands is zero - then it must be accepted that a brand can appear in a team name without giving financial support to the team - surely?

Don't you realise that you are not going to get an answer because a) the poster doesn't know or b) and possibly a fact that these deals are confidential between the teams and those named within the teams' name and are therefore not for public consumption.

Sometimes one has to just accept that one can't always have one's curiosity satisfied. However, there are cases, and I don't say that this is so on this occasion, where a poster is just making out he or she knows something that others don't know.

BTC Racing already has a proven history of promoting brands without receiving financial support from them, and not needing to sell space on the car or naming rights to fund their entry.

In terms of the BTC deal - it's worth looking back to how the cars appeared in 2019 and 2020.

The following is Cook's car in 2020:

At the time, the cars were fully funded and the ownership of the team had no issue with keeping the seats occupied. The drivers were able to bring their personal sponsors onboard (see Crees/Clever Baggers or Edwards/PHSC).

Then at the end of 2020, Rok Soba was approached by BTC: "Rok Soba was delighted to be approached by BTC Racing who generously offered us placement on Josh Cook’s car for the season finale at Brands Hatch."

More on their deal can be found here - https://joinclubsoda.com/rok-soba-al...ee-btc-racing/

It's clear when you look at the eventual demise of Rok Soba that there was no financial support from Rok Soba to the team.

Move on to the 2022 entry - and you can see different brands on the car:

This time we have Adrian Flux on the car alongside Rich Energy - with the latter also appearing in the team name. In this instance, Adrian Flux has provided financial support - having been brought along by Mr Plato.
Rich Energy remains as a promotional placement by the team owner, in the same manner as Lind Harley Davidson and Captain Fawcett previously. Albeit Rich Energy has also made it into the team name this time around.

Unfortunately life just isn’t as simple as you’d like it to be.

I doubt there are ten cars total worldwide where sponsors provide serious cash for stickers alone.

So Dudman is playing a clever game here - using his own team to promote his own companies, reducing the amount of funding each driver needs to bring. Which in turn opens up the drivers available - allowing Dudman to have options over talent instead of just £££.

But where do you get the idea that this reduces driver budgets? There’s always lots of smoke and mirrors but the driver usually pays full whack, even if it’s notionally “discounted” from an artificially high starting price.

So Cook who had previously always struggled to get the budget together joins BTC then never mentions budget again.... Same with another driver in the team.

I think the original point has been lost.

You put forward the opinion that:

How was Rich Energy subsidising Cook's drive when he joined the team in 2019?
Or why do the cars carry Adrian Flux now?
Or why did Edwards have to push for more backing recently to fund her drive?

You can't link Cook not mentioning budget demands from 2019 to a brand that didn't appear on the car until 2022.......

You are right that Dudman is using a team that he owns to promote his other ventures - that doesn't mean that Rich Energy is providing financial support to the team.

You really don't get it, but you clearly know every detail of the deals so we might as well leave it there.

In other BTC news - what's happening with Cookie? He has been beaten over the last 3 weekends by Butcher, so is it really engine power?

Interesting to observe the latest RICH Energy developments on social media the last 48hours.

On one hand, we have those that claim the drink does not exist, or that they would not connect with the brand in any way.

But - we seemingly have two companies in the UK both claiming they have the rights to distribution. If there is no product or market - why would two companies want to make claims?

As much as we say that there is no such publicity as bad publicity is false in terms of RICH Energy - companies are competing with each other to be involved with the brand.

Are you going to sell these on, start sponsoring some sort of motor-sport team and start calling yourself a 'distributor'?

Always make me chuckle when people say it doesn't exist. I've drunk gallons of the stuff over the last few years and have zero problems buying it. Guess it's an old guy thing where if it's not on the shelves in Lidl or Aldi it's a myth.
