What’s going on with BRT Mustang, Tim Slade was a bit evasive when being interviewed in the team garage during the last session on Friday?

Turns out he had a broken damper in the car...

Talking points:

Lee Holdsworth - wow. Tough conditions and really doing the business. Clearly nothing wrong with Mustangs.

Erebus - wow, 3 cars in the top 10 - given inconsistent form that is pretty amazing.

Richie Stanaway - wow I don't think anybody would have picked that - given he had very little running. Base Erebus setup must be really good. Mighty effort.

Whincup & Feeney - boy not sure how I feel about this. Can't argue with the pace, and the conditions were shocking. I am a bit surprised there wasn't worse damage, there were some huge offs. From one point of view the car is straight and being outside the 10 isn't the worst thing ever. On the flipside, you have the guy in the car all year and he does a VERY good job but you sidestep him for Jamie who doesn't get the thing in the 10.

SVG penalty - I think the penalty is fair, but it would be good if BJR drivers wouldn't drive like donkeys that don't have mirrors. Jones had already thrown the thing off the road and lost a second so I don't know he can use the argument that he was "on a lap", and his line looked like he was letting Shane past.

Very ugly conditions for guys without a lot of experience.

With hindsight my comments yesterday re SVG in 'the incident' were a tad premature.... I was not aware at the time that Jones had already blown his lap at T1, and admit Jones seemed to brake early before the contact. I think SVG thought Jones was giving him room but none the less not the best place for Shane to make a move and hence the penalty.
Mitigating circumstances for SVG but still agree the penalty was fair....

They may have (don't recall) but to be fair to them, the weather looked diabolical nearby for hours before it arrived (did anyone notice the heavy clouds just to the North during the practice session?) and Cromley did say that it was hammering down just to the North.

Point being that the rain could have come in any time at all today, is quite localised how it moves around at times and not that predictable - reckon that they were lucky to get the amount of running done that they did.

Hopefully though, they'll heed your point and start the race earlier tomorrow (assuming that it can start - if like today I struggle to see how they could run it).

Apparently the Bathurst City Council are busy digging channels to divert water at various points around the circuit....

We lost the Carrera Cup, the headline Super2 race, and the Top 10 shootout... let alone whatever falls off the program tomorrow...

How about a 9 am sunday top 10.. Formula 1 do it sometimes

The thing is, who do you take it from?

Also none of the other races are long enough to fit the Shootout in, other than P6 today. There is nothing in the schedule tomorrow where you could do it.
