That was a great read Dov! I suppose most of us race fans never really think of all the work that goes into moving a whole racing series. I can only imagine how much it all costs!

Interesting stuff. Particulary this:

It is rather mind-boggling the amount (and value) of stuff that they ship around the world. I wonder how it compares with F1? |

There's some funny things that go on with the race in Australia. For instance, it's hard to get souveniers down here- all the parts that fall off cars during crashes have to go back with the wreck to the states, a rather strange customs regulation. Also, they tend to not bring much merchandise with them, as they are only allocated so much space.
Compared to F1, there are more cars in Cart to transport, as every car should have a spare, while in F1 there is one spare to two race cars. But then in other things, F1 would drag more equipment along, just have a look at the massive set ups they have in their pit garages. CART just take what they get and use it, with very little decoration. |

Do they actually ship the trucks or what is it they use to get around?

Wow, does that take organization! Just running our little club races back and forth across our border with Canada can cause hours of delays for each team. Especially when they want you to count tires and parts that could be sold so they can inventory them again on the way back.
I am impressed. Thanks for sharing that. |

Well the interesting one will be V8 supercars to china by plane. There are 32 to transport and Iwould imagine they don't pack as well as F1 or champ cars

No, they would not be as portable as an open-wheeler. Heavier too.
