The sad thing is Doornbos; he almost wins the title in his rookie year and now he's out.

I can't really speak for some of the newer drivers, but Doornbos on top of being a good driver also was a good personality. Articulate and pretty funny.
He would be an excellent addition to the series. Is he still a Red Bull driver? |

Doornbos will be back racing in america in the not so distance future. He is too good to not have a seat over there.

Perhaps some drivers and teams are waiting to see how this season is going to go for the IRL before they make a commitment to it.

Also, looks like this one either slipped under our radar or we all just dismissed it out of hand as a mad old guy's wittering. Al Unser Jr & Al III with Playa Del for Indy 500? http://www.indy500.com/news/story.php?story_id=10630 |

I'm not sure he's quite ready for a season yet. Next year might be a different matter though. How old he is anyway?

On RTlGP.nl it is mentioned that Doornbos will be at the next race as a guest of an IRL team ( winning team of Indy 500 in the last years )
Could this be Rahal letterman ? |

Nice to hear about Doornbos coming back. He really deserves a seat in the IRL.

As a Red Bull team, or sponsoring them to race in three different teams? Great news anyway, looks like bump day will be fun again.

Absolutely; this year we'll certainly return to have an exciting bump day (I am not referring to the mentioned drivers, of course, but to the number of entries which is expected to be fair and square over 33)

Speaking of bump day, isn't April when the teams have to confirm thier entries? I guess we could be hearing lots more rumors and announcements in the coming weeks.

Bump day has been "fill up the grid" day for quite a few 500's in recent years, but there has been a handful of occasions where one or two drivers have been bumped out. A good example is when AJ Foyt phoned Giaffone when he was shopping with his wife and asked him to try and qualify, and they ended up bumping Arie jr.
