CVT should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
will Minardi race the old Arrows cars on Germany?

i saw in the news that Minardi bought 5 Arrows F1 cars and will test them to see if it's faster than their 2003 car, and will prolly race them if it's quicker. what does the rules say about that?

As I have Just said in the other related Thread, Arrows New Well in advance that they would be Fitting a Ford Engine in the back, Minardi were not sure until very late on therefore the Arrows may contain less compromises and as I recall it was not a bad motor in the early part of the season

I may work out

How is Minardi going to test to see which is better??? They can't even afford to test their own cars as it is...

They could always use the Friday morning test sessions at the GPs.

They say you can't use another teams chassis. Arrows is no longer another 'team' so they're free to use them.

Bernardi Minnows. Greaaaaaaaaat.

I hope it works out for them. If nothing else it saves them having to construct 5 more shells.

Won't the old Arrows cars have to go through different crash tests first?

well, the old Arrows's past them before, so i wouldnt be suprised if they were allowed to race them.

Remember the claims or reports that Minardi, if they still existed or had enough money, would use the R23 in 2005?

Good news for Minardi, the A23 was in my eyes, quite an aerodynamically effective car, but the money didnt last.

I think its a bit iffy for Minardi to purchase 5 A23's, whilst they still maintain that they will simply look at the chassis and see where the PS03 can be improved. Why 5? why not just 1?!

Tom.

I have read one area that Minardi will be looking at is the suspension, as this years car was designed around Michelin tyres during the on/off period of whether Minardi would swap to Bridgestones. This is one are where Minardi think an improvement may lie.

Arrow's ran Bridgestones, so maybe Minardi will learn something from this.

I guess Minardi see the whole exercise as a relatively cheap way of possibly improving the teams performance, by either learning from the Arrows chassis, making the PS02 a clone of it or just using some of the parts.

Overall they probably feel they haven't made the improvement this year they hoped, but don't have the engine as the cause - so they must be looking to improve the car where, and if they can.

I think Minardi did make an improvement compared to last year. Their qualifying times this year seem much better than last year compared to pole. Of course I know the sytem changed a lot and Minardi has now two very capable driver, but still there is a slight improvement. Other than that it could be a good idea to spare wind tunnel time and buy an already done car. However, I am not sure that the Arrows of last year would be quicker than the Minardi of this year.

Minardi A23?

Is this really gonna make Minardi any better? The cars were previously fitted with the same Ford Cosworth engines as those being used by Minardi this season! What were Arrows big accomplishments? Holding up David Coultard in Monaco a year or two ago? On a relatied note...how do you people make the cartoon who bangs his head against the wall?

Suppose, just suppose Stoddy bought the cars. He could walk away from Minardi and run the Arrows from his European Racing base...

Bernie could sell Minardi on at a profit. Stoddy gets a better team long-term without debts etc. and F1 has another team?

Plus, who owns the Cosworth contract? PS or Minardi spa?
