Newcastle Is Go....maybe??

Interesting to read in MeN last night that VESA has set their sights on a potential street race in the vibrant community of Newcastle NSW...

The details werent very clear, more like that it was one of those 'run it up the flagpole and see who salutes' kinda deals, a niggle designed to initiate the local municipal council's view on the issue...

But it does beg the question, would having a street race around the Honeysuckle foreshore be something good for the series?

And if Newcastle gets an event up, presuming the state and local governments write the appropriate sized cheque, where will the new demand come from?

Canberra, Wollongong, Broken Hill, Mt Isa, Broome, Fremantle.... the options are arguably endless....

Pro Racer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
hmmm interesting. if it happened i'd make the trip up the F3. in saying that if they do add another street race no matter where it is i hope it's an extra round and not replacing another perminant track.

The Newcastle foreshore would be a spectacular street circuit, It would rival the Surfers Paradise circuit for beauty in my opinion. Nrewcastle is the 6th largest city in Australia and this event should be well supported. Now over to the local polies.Good Luck.

Is is not still afflicted with substantial unemployment problems?
What would be the best use of money allocated to the region?

Hasn't this all ready been through the ringer? It won't happen in the near future as NSW is not cashed strapped to build another cicuit and Krudd won't have any money after pledging it all last budget. So that leaves Uncle Tony to fund it, and that will never happen. Just imagine it ,
Newcastle Motor Park (A wholly Owned business by VESA)
Newcastle Park must pay VESA $$$$ to host a round of the V8 Championship. The bean counters would have field day. Talk about number crunching.

No doubt word has gotten around about a proposed stand alone track in that area, VESA might let someone do the intro work and come in over the top with a deal they cant refuse! (or that will be how it's soled to the council)

Wonder if the big lotto winners from a few weeks ago have thought about building their own track....................53 mil would get a nice one

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
its good to see V8SA finally acknowledging the key demographical areas of its support rather than supposed growth markets

Just think, the hillclimb (King's Park?) could be run as a sideshow (imagine the cost of running it on the same weekend with VESA fees included!

I thought they could incorporate the hillclimb into the street race. Send Whincup & Courtney side by side into the pinch.

Perce's Pinch. I remember it well, and a Supercar wouldn't get up it unless its ride height was raised a few inches. Come to think of it, a Supercar would struggle to get along the path leading to the pinch, unless the pathway ('cos that's what it is) was widened.

BOT: "Supercar street race for Newcastle" eh?
