Ken Tyrrell

Not largely mentioned, mostly because 10th anniversary of Imola's tragic weekend is coming, but there's also 80th anniversary of this legendary team boss.

Tyrrell won championships with Jackie Stewart, but after that success was weaker. Tyrrell was able to keep his team in racing though, before he sold it to BAR.

Many drivers got first chance in Tyrrell, like Jean Alesi, Patrick Depailler and Michele Alboreto.

I was at Hungaroring 1996 and visited one hotel on the Saturday evening, where I saw Ken Tyrrell sitting. At that time, he was Mika Salo's team boss. By a coincident, I saw him also in the queue on Sunday.

He died on August 25th, 2001 after battling with cancer for a few years.

Ken was and still is highly respected in racing cirlces , certainly one team owner that i miss over the course of a race weekend.

He surely is missed by all.

A man that certainly won less than he deserved.
The most original F1 car ever is not enough.
