As read from another thread, we are about to watch drone-cars races with electric motors. Its good to see human beings at wheel while we can make profit with.
Can a man be flawless? I have a personal answer to this question!!
Probably Vettel can blame only himself for falling in a trap old as racing. They are the best of the racing world but are still men. C'est plutôt rassurant isn't it Bob?

Bob, because your book "Everything you want to know about plastic hub caps" is still #1 of sales in Azerbaidjan you know quite a lot about people living there. I think the Formula 1 Circus gave the right lesson: how to spend millions dollars within one weekend and go back home unhappy. There are so many countries on the planet where people dont know how to spend obscene amounts of money. They must be taught. Happy this circus is coming to France! Waiting for the lesson…

I am happy to read that Ricciardo pretty well agrees with me over the 'Vettel affair'. no big deal.

He has gone up several notches on my 'like scale'.

Ah! Gerard the man to persuade people/governments to spend half the national budget on a Formula 1 race is now no longer in charge A big mistake by Liberty.

Well, that's not what he said to me as we shared a pint of beer drunk out of my wellingtons. In fact I think his comment was something like "Bauble? isn't that something you hang on a Christmas Tree?" But then I could be mistaken, according to my wife it's something that happens quite often...

My post simply noted that Vettel was not guilty of driving too slowly. Indeed he was driving too fast and thus ran into the back of another car.

The difference between myself and virtually every other person on the planet, is that I consider the whole affair nothing but a mild spat, and barely worth a mention. To me the banging of wheels seemed relatively innocuous in the great scheme of things, far worse happens while cars are at racing speed.

I genuinely believe that Hamilton 'engineered' the situation by driving at a very slow pace under the circumstances hoping that by bunching up the field he would give those behind him problems at the restart. This is, of course, what every driver does under the safety car rules, so I am not making a case against Lewis. Certainly it would have been better had Seb not lost his rag, but he did believe that he had been brake tested. Wrongly as it turned out.

So while I do not disagree about the basic causes of the incident, I just find it incredible that it has stirred up such a storm of outrage.

I first became aware of Formula 1 in 1951, when I saw reports in an Autocar magazine that a neighbour gave me to put on a bonfire. (I still have the pictures in a scrap book). By 1952 I was completely hooked, and buying the magazine for myself, so I have been around for a long time, and seen a lot.

The Baku Incident rates hardly at all on my list of dodgy driving.

I rest my case. With apologies that I cannot get incensed by the affair.

Cheers,

Bauble
Grr...... I asked this earlier and got an answer that I was wrong about the whole "red mist" phrase being sexist, which I totally agree with. Then here this is..... Is this a phrase lost in translation to this dumb "murricans" mind or what? Not that I want to be "pc policing" anything, as I don't care, but I'm trying to figure out exactly the meaning this is referring to, since I've had it explained to me one way but explained on here to me in a better, more decent way.

"trying to figure out"! I can't believe people still use that expression. That was offensive even before PC was invented.

I think you are confusing "losing your rag" with something similar. You'll get a reputation for being obsessed with such matters. A quick google suggests you aren't the only one to do so, but I'm fairly sure it's OK.

The meaning or origin of many day-to-day phrases is often lost in the mists of time (what does that mean?), but still are in regular use. Why' losing one's rag'?

I have no idea but it indicates 'losing one's temper', something hopefully everyone would understand.

Tempers flare up.

Tempers are lost.

Tempers have tantrums.

Tempers get hot.

Now why don't you leave the bl***y subject alone!!!!! You are making me mad
