2013 F1 Predictions Compy!
Hello Sports Fans!
Good news! The 2013 season Predictions Contest is programmed and ready to roll. The thing will work pretty much exactly as it did last year. In fact we have only made two little changes: 1. By popular demand, Cut-off for entries is the start of Quali, the day before the GP. NB, not all the Quali sessions start exactly 24 hours before the GP. So if you're intending cut it fine or to enter after watching Practice, make sure you don't get caught out by making this assumption. 2. If you tick the "opt-in" box for notifications/newsletter, you will be sent an email reminder of the entry cut-off approx. 6 hours before the cut-off. You can easily opt-out if you want, there will even be a link to do this in the email. I set it at 6 hours by guess work at what would be the best time to remind people, If a consensus builds that it needs to be earlier or closer to the cut-off, I'll happily change it. Just a little clarification considering the unusual circumstances in Australian GP.
Hopefully the Quali will play out as planned. But if it doesn't, the person declared as the pole sitter for the GP, will be our pole sitter. If the race goes ahead, but ends early, points will be awarded according to the points order that counts for the championship. If not points are awarded in the championship, then this round will be null and void. |

Wow! Off to a decent start! Picked the pole, 8 out of 10 picks finished ,with 1 in eleventh place.Also picked the right team for fastest lap , but wrong car !
It's been cold ,windy,and snowy this last week,but this race has warmed my heart..

Well, welcome to 2013 everybody. All the usual hot pickers are there, or thereabouts. But Pitstop pulled a blinder on 150 points. Getting Alonso, Vettel and Hamilton spot on helped his multiplyer, along with spotting Vettel on pole & Kimi FL has given him a real bumper start. Well done!
Rosberg's DNF & Webber's KERS cost me heavily, but I plan on developing some talent for this as the season progresses. Full results are online now. |

Ah, The problem was the points structure. The points from 2 off position to 9 off position were out of whack by one. (IE giving you 15 when you'd scored 18, and so on).
There's three bits of good news. 1. Corrected points from Australia have been calculated and issued. 2. Now the cause of the problem has been identified, it can't happen again this season. 3. It hasn't made much difference to the outcome. Sorry about that chaps! |

Right, Fixed!
And we have some good news. There are some new features to give you extra chances to score points. You'll notice there are two new tickboxes and a dropdown on the entry form. Basically, If you think it's going to be a rain affected race, put a tick in the tick box. If you think there will be a Safety car out during the race, put a tick in the box. If you think it's going to be a dry race with no safety cars, leave them both blank. Get it right, you'll get 5 points each. The default is unticked, meaning you predict a dry race with no safety cars. And you'll also have to have a stab at the number of DNFs For instance, if you'd picked '4' in Australia, you'd get another 5 points. It'll default to 0, meaning you'll be hoping everybody finishes the race |
