That'll fix 'em Seats.

Outpowering the MG down the straight, as if anyone believed that was real performance.

Shame though.

Weight Increase For ETCC-Spec Cars

I see from the offical TOCA site that there is going to be a weight increase For ETCC-Spec Cars. The new weights come into force as of Silverstone. From now the minimum weights will be as follows:-

Front-wheel drive H-pattern gearbox 1085kgs
Front-wheel drive Sequential gearbox 1115kgs
Rear-wheel drive H-pattern gearbox 1115kgs

Now it will be interesting to see how the Seat's perform now.

I think it was a simple case that the ETCC cars, undeveloped, were just way to much on the pace after all the work that the BTCC spec cars have done over the last few years.

Indeed.

If you watch an ETCC race, you'll see that the Seats are actually nowhere near the front.

You need to imagine what would happen if there was a combined ETCC/BTCC race. Surely the front runners should be Vauxhall and Alfa Romeo? Going by Seat's performance at Thruxton and Brands, such a race would have been an Alfa and BMW demonstration!

Of course, the whole 'weight penalty' thing is impossible to get 100% right anyway, so it's expected that TOCA will fiddle with the figures every now and again...

I would like to see the UK SEATs go head-to-head with the European ones. It would show whether RML have made any gains over them and thus if it's fair or not to consider them equal.
