Nine to drop F1 (australia)
The nine network will not be showing F1 next year, and 10 and fox sports are in negotiation with Bernie.
I do not want to get pay TV so I hope ten get it, but what would they drop to show F1 as they currently show V8's, the bikes, cart, rally etc....... |

I believe that if 10 channel doesn't get it you wont ne able to see Bernievision PPV whether you want or not, due to technical limits. Anyway, good luck to you guys, I've read awfull stuff regarding Channel 9.

If Foxtel get it it will most likely be like how it is with the World Superbikes and MotoGP. Foxtel show the races live, while Channel 10 show them as close to live as they can, or on the same day at least. Makes you wonder what they would do if they had it this year, as Bathurst clashes with the Japanese GP.
Hopefully Foxtel are included. |

I don't have Foxtel, so that is not an option for Bernie.
What about 7? |

I have PayTV, but with Foxtel also having the MotoGP and WSB, I'd hope they still show them live instead of the F1.
At least I can stay awake watching the motorbike, something that is impossible to do with modern F1. *snore* |

Yep agreed, the bikes have been much better.
Maybe if Foxtel get it they will get Warren Smith off the bloody NRL and back into motorsport calling the F1, like he and Magee did with the Superbikes in 2000. |

Look, let's not gripe before it even happens. Just be grateful for small mercies if somebody does televise F1 in Oz. With luck, we might even get quals.

I loved the quote in MN that the 9 sports department were so happy - not half as happy as the rest of us! Bring on Foxtel.

Yeah,9 is pretty hopeless/anoying but at least the DO show races.I think we have zero chance of no free to air network taking it up.9 or 10 will do it-after all,OZ tv networks make %$^&loads of money from the 15 min/hr adverts. You overseas people think i'm joking don't you.You should see the reactions of the backpackers who visit our place occ.,they're trully disgusted.

Valve - I agree, if it wasn't for 9 taking it and doing a great job for many years when no one else wanted it what would the coverage be like today. (and really, can you blame them for having enough of Bernie)

Channel 9 about to lose F1 coverage rights
According to F1-Live website Channel 9 are about to lose the rights to F1 coverage in Australia after the Japanesse GP. This is part of what was reported on F1-Live...
It appears as if coverage in Australia may be about to improve with reports that channel nine, the station responsible for delayed telecasts and no qualifying broadcasts, has lost the rights to screen the events after the Japanese GP next month. Rival network channel ten is tipped to pick it up, however when we contacted them for confirmation we were told that an announcement, if there was going to be one, wouldn't be made until the end of the year. Lets hope this is correct and that Big Kerry now no longer controls F1 on free to air in Australia |

bout time 9 lost the rights to I say , but could this be good or bad ???
lesser of two evils perhaps , I dont know if 10 could give F1 the coverage we want due to their commitments of other racing series , maybe we just need a dedicated motorsport channel that shows racing 24hrs a day that would be so much better but so expensive to set up and run but its a nice thought. lets hope things work out and work out for the better for Aussie racing fans. |
