GP2 Abu Dhabi - The Finale

Well, Leimer leads Practice ahead of Bird. Dani Clos is 3rd. Felipe Nasr finished down in 10th. James Calado has received a 5 place grid penalty that ends his title hopes, whatever they were!

Certainly due to be the key point of interest this weekend. Both races on at nice times (UK) too. Bring it on!

Tom Dillmann is starting next to Fabio Leimer, which puts him in a rather interesting position. Normally GP2 is every man for himself, however things at Russian Time might be a little different as they have no pay driver...

Well, Rossi finally won something, as Leimer claimed the title in 4th, as Sam Bird stalled at the start and ended up 10th.

Nasty clash for Lancaster and Dillmann...

The outcome was strangely similar to the Liuzzi/Schumacher crash, 3 years ago, at the same corner.

Bad luck Bird, fair play to Leimer on winning the title. Do you think he will get a chance in F1 next year?

Cracking drive from Rossi today as well.

I personally feel that nobody currently in GP2 will get an F1 seat next season. The only ones who might come close are Bird at Williams, Nasr somewhere at the back and Calado at Force India. Sadly for Leimer, this looks to be it as single seaters are concerned, although one of the teams could take him onboard as a development driver - he will probably be a valuable one with all of these years in big cars.

But DTM beckons imo...

Sam delivered what he was asked to do for the team: Team Title which was from day 1 the main target for them. Superb!! Very pro. I wish him the best in his next team, hopefully in F1. On the starting grid next year pls!!

WOW! What a drive from Alex Rossi in Race 1! Top talent in the series!! Soon, he will be ready to take to the big stage of Formula 1, whether that is next season or in 2015. I am extremely proud of him!

This month has seen some great success in U.S. Open Wheel results!

Also a big shout out to Conor Daly for a fantastic podium finish in Race 2 and finishing third in the GP3 standings. If he hadn't been foolishly shunted off at Monza he most certainly would have been a contender for the series title! Here's to hoping he makes it in GP2 or World Series.
