There are massive differences between Supercar and GT4. For starters the chassis of a Supercar is a purpose built chassis that has no connection with a production body whereas a GT4 is the production chassis the road car originally came with. Supercar has a purpose built engine that you wont find in any road car whilst a GT4 car uses the production engine albeit modified but far less so then a Supercar.

GT4 is similar to Group A

If I may ask, from where did you develop such an inaccurate assumption about the chassis of a GT4 car? I ask because I'm pretty certain you've confused it with another class(there are several you could have mixed up) and I'd like to more accurately clear this up for you. Rich07 already did a good job of simplistically detailing the differences from GT4 and Supercars, but I'd like to make sure the basis for your initial assumption is cleared up as well.

GT4 is a road car lightly modified to be a racing car, GT3 is a road car heavily modified to be a racing car.

Supercars is a racing car made to look like a road car, which bears no relationship to the road car apart from the external shape.

I think I got that thinking from looking at the build of the MARC mustang. I assumed, obviously by mistake, that because they were making carbon fibre panels and the like that the chassis was standardised for the class as well, like supercars.

Thanks guys for setting me straight.

Can you point me to where Rick07 has the comparison....I'm interested to learn to understand a bit more.

Well, that actually DOES explain your mistake - the MARC Mustang is not a GT4 or GT3 car. It's entirely purpose built car on a custom frame. I believe it's a new frame, as well, rather than the one they built the Focus V8 and Mazda3 V8 on(given both shape and the fact that's official name is the MARC II V8).

I would love it if the Supercars Mustang looked like the car in question, though, but the regs will prevent that.

Rich07's comparison is right before the post of mine that you quoted. It's small, but it's sufficient.

thanks for that... I think I thought that the MARC mustang article has some chat about GT4 so maybe I thought they were one in the same. I have never taken any notice of other catagories other than Supercars and NASCAR. I thought all GT cars were kinda production. When I think GT catagory I think of thoses SLS's because they sound so good.

Anyway...I'm all sorted now and will try not to make the same mistake again.

Talking about the Camaro, I did up a quick list of current Holden teams and basically split them down the middle between the ZB and Camaro.

ZB -
888
Tekno
Erebus
GRM

Camaro -
BJR
Preston Hire
WAU

It worked out 8 ZB's to 6 Camaro's. If you wanted it even and have 7 either side, you could bring Tekno to the Camaro side and maybe join the other single car there Car 18, which would suit number wise when i realized Tekno is 19....but ultimately ZB is still very new and the has had plenty of money spent to develop it.

Errebus would aide with WAU, and Tekno is a full customer 888 operation so those two would be unlikely to be placed like that. I just don't see who is coughing up the dough to homologate it, even if WAU has capability.

What do we think may happen with car 18? read a story recently about the disadvantage of not being able to share data with another car. Could they team up with BJR make 4 car team?

How has this Camaro talk gotten this far?

The car is not sold in Australia. HSV offering it for sale later this year will not make it eligible for Supercars without GM approval.

GM have thrown their lot in with Triple 8 who have spent a motza getting the ZB program up and running and will want to make their money back.

There will be no Camaro Supercar until the end of the ZB program.

The 18 car was in a 4-car setup and left to set up their own operation. Would seem like a waste of time if they moved back into another's team's setup

Team 18, Tekno, and BJR, are likely to do whatever Triple Eight does.

The rest could go either way.

But as said, we're all jumping at shadows here.

Remember the survey about the Camaro was "do you want to see one" not "do you expect to see one". Big difference.

(and the answer from me-1.Yes, 2.No)
