Agree but I cant see WSR being happy with this or for that matter RAC who expect results for their cash. Its a shame the series is so reliant on money from drivers who stay for this reason where as Jelley being in a high profile team should really be shown the door.

Sometimes, the money makes the difference between there being a slow car in the field and none at all.

Ermmm, 0.7secs behind a much more experienced teammate isn't exactly light years, is it?

Epic start by Jackson, I may be going crazy but I'm sure I've just seen an old Astra Coupe in blue and white??

Hope there's nothing too serious with the Marshall.

Definitely me going crazy, inventing cars on the grid!!

Red flagged for good due to the weather. If that first stoppage hadn't occurred the cars would have probably been able to push aside the puddles. Turk picks up the win, Doyle gets 9th! AFAIK there's no half-points awarded in the BTCC?

Looks a little too wet.

Race one red flagged. A 4 minute event with Turkington winning - presumably on half points - though TSL haven't declared the result yet.

Track condition: Extremely Wet

Some marshals were injured whilst attending to Stephen Jelley's car, as Alan Taylor went off and hit him. Apparently they're okay though.

Louise's questions to Gow seem more concerned about the TV timetable!

Can't recall the last wet Croft... was it 1997 when it was almost totally washed out?

Check out Ben's Indiana Jones style hat!

There's no specific regulation that deals with the points situation for a race ended under 75% - the BTCC Regulations refer to MSA General Regulation G23 which I can't find anywhere.

It may be the race is declared a non-event - it may simply serve as a qualifying event for race two.

Well, they did about 4 laps in the first section...which was red flagged, then restarted an 8 lap sprint completing just two laps.

So in fact about 6 laps have been completed in total. If it was just the two laps, regulations state race is declared null and void.

It would be odd if they awarded points. It wasn't even a race, as such. More a competition to see who could stay on the track. I felt gutted at missing out on a trip to Croft (it's only 45 minutes away), but now I feel quite lucky.

Well, is there not an hour or so yet before Race 2?

Perhaps the rain will relent between now and then?

This looks like a similar deal to when I went to Donnington last year with some friends. It was their first experience of motorracing (as it took me ages to convince them / twist their arms to come), and the day was a total washout, gales, torrential rain, though we did see some racing, it was just a nightmare, and I wanted to just leave.

Needless to say, my friends have not asked me to go again...

Update on the marshals caught up in the first red flag incident. Word is that they're just bruised.

Before that though, they were supposed to have run a SEAT Cupra race, a Renault UK Championship race as well as the Porsche Carrera Cup.

The schedules going to look a little light.

Not often that I agree with Tim Harvey, but I had already commented that maybe the marshals had rushed out a bit early to deal with what didn't appear to be a "serious" accident considering the conditions.

But will add the disclaimer that obviously I'm not there, haven't seen exactly what happened and it is easy to pontificate when sitting in the warm and dry watching it on TV.

I just don't like to see my colleagues get injured so am very relieved that it doesn't appear too serious. They've just announced that the guys are "bruised and shaken" - and in need of a "strong cup of tea"......... but we'll take that for the euphamism it implies. I once had just the armco and tyre wall between me and two BTCC cars when they hit and a "strong cup of tea" was certainly NOT what I required, although I was shaking so much anything else would probably have been wasted through spillage!

Thank goodness. A marshal suffered a broken leg at the recent Croft F3 round, so I was beginning to think they were an unlucky bunch.

I bet Alan Taylor feels pretty bad, but driving in those conditions (yellow flags or not) can't be easy.
