Weeell..
I havent been planning this far ahead, but yes, lookong at the website, the Gordon is planned to run at 10.00 am.
However, I dont see, why one cant go to the ball, beeing very careful about drinking and leaving relatively early

unless you are part of the great and good and therefore top table material you will be placed by race so everyone else on your table will be in the same boat.... it empties out pretty quickly after dinner

I've spoken to Goodwood and the regs are correct, the Gordon race is on Saturday so I'll be able to go to the party.

I agree that it would still make sense to go to ball had the race been on Sunday but it's a bit of a shame to see all the champagne go to waste whilst I'm sitting looking at my agua sin gas...

Can anyone 'in the know' confirm the precise Fordwater entry requirements this year? Thought it was for up to 1964, under 1500cc 'special bodied sports and GT', but have heard talk of at least one 1800cc car.......

The description says "Fordwater Trophy - For endurance racing sports and GT cars, of a type that raced between 1960 and 1966", which is not that helpful. The invitation letter says "This year's race will feature a grid of production-based sports and GT cars from the 1960s, including a fabulous array of diminutive A Series-engined specials, alongside Italian exotica from Abarth and Alfa Romeo, and special-bodied versions of familiar cars from Triumph and MG".

It was on the original invite for the test day in March that a 1500cc limit was indicated, but nothing more has been said on capacity. I know that the WSM MGB has an invite. The big question is whether the SLR Morgans will be there again as they dominated the race last time out in 2006 - I say give us littl'uns a chance this time.

Thanks Brian, thought there would be a WSM owner about.....

I'm never quite sure from year to year if the Gilbern would fit in, as the criteria never quite match what it is. A representative of the marque really ought to be there one year!

And agree about the SLR, much as I like them!

The Gilbern will always be welcome with Equipe GTS. How about nipping along to the Bentley Drivers Club meeting at Silverstone on 7th August. We're hobnobbing with the rich guys.

Just found out today that BRM celebration is a feature for 2010. Why wasn't that a featured marque in 2009 when I managed to get there for a day... So frustrating to miss out on the world's best event most years.

"Does anyone know whether this timetable is still the latest??"

The timetable that Dan has listed is still showing on the Goodwood website, but it differs from the one sent out with the invitations in respect of the sequence of the races.

My list says:
Saturday
Race 1 - Goodwood Trophy (GP cars 1930-1950)
Race 2 - Chichester Cup (FJ rear engine drum brake)
Race 3 - Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy - part 1 (bikes 1950-1954)
Race 4 - St Mary's Trophy - part 1 (Saloons 1950-1959)
Race 5 - Whitsun Trophy (Sports racers 1963-1966)
Race 6 - Madgewick Cup (Sports racers under 2.5 litres 1955-1960)
Race 7 - Gordon Trophy (F1 1954-1961)
Race 8 - Freddie March Memorial Trophy (Goodwood nine hours cars 1952-1955)

Sunday
Race 9 - Fordwater Trophy (prod. based sports and GT cars 1960-1966)
Race 10 - Richmond Trophy (Front engined GP cars 1950-1960)
Race 11 - Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy - part 2
Race 12 - St Mary's Trophy - part 2
Race 14 - RAC TT Celebration (GTs 1960-1964)
Race 15 - Glover Trophy (1.5 litre GP cars 1961-1965)
Race 16 - Sussex Trophy (Sports & sports racing cars 1955-1960)

But of course - this is still provisional until the finals arrive in a couple of weeks

Don't worry Iain, I just had a look on Bobby Rahal's web site and he states

"not sure if I'm driving this year as it between Iain Rowley and me"
