Maybe the BR1 didn't work well with the Gibson engine. Let's hope that the Ginetta does because it also was running a different type of engine in its early life. I suspect that the BR1 was designed for the AER turbo and that the updated version for Dragonspeed never worked as well.

Yes, that could be very possible. They had problems with the electronics too. Taking in mind the problems that the DPi cars had in the early days it could be a reason.

On the other side, I think the BR1 is a more difficult car to drive compared with the Ginetta. That could had been a reason to have some interest in the swap.

"Ginetta’s AER P60B installation, the 2.4 litre twin turbo V6 replacing the Mecachrome 3.4 litre single turbo powerplant after the car’s troubled Le Mans debut, was already fully designed as part of the package developed for a launch customer for the G60 LMP1 that never came to fruition."

Keep getting it mixed up and thinking the Gibson is going to be in the Ginetta when it's the turbo AER.

I gotta imagine Ginetta will get the latest evolution of the engine. Especially given how well it just performed at Le Mans.

With SMP gone, one has to hope for Ginetta-AER to last until LM, or otherwise there will be grand total of two engine makes in all of Prototypes and to think that only last year we had Toyota, Zytek, AER, Nissan and Mechachrome (although obviously even that is nothing in comparison to start of the decade)

Endurance info reporting the Ginetta was pretty close to Toyota on times at Paul Ricard.

I don't recall the Ginetta being close to the Toyota in lap times, can you point that out?

I have my Ginetta on order, but so far Scalextric have only released the white one and I want blue.

He is correct. They made almost identical statements last year.

http://www.dailysportscar.com/2018/0...ith-video.html

on track with Toyota, times are close!

“It was great that Toyota were present as we had a real benchmark to compare ourselves against. In terms of best lap times, we were within 7/10ths of them and during long runs we seemed to be able to match their pace, and we feel there is lots more to come from our car.

I meant during the super season, as in they didn't even race.

No, but that's what Juntos is meaning Both Prologues the car has run at it's been "within a second" of Toyota, yet it hasn't been even remotely close during the one and only event.

Also, if you think about it - they knew the engine was "over 100hp down" during the first prologue and they still thought they were within a second of Toyota? How much of this is optimism, and how much of this is Prost GP attempts to sell sponsorship/cars?
